But it's a really good set...only kidding. When I went to TRU I would say 3/4 of all the shelves of Lego were cleared. I think TRU won this round and will continue along this route for holiday pricing.
Won is relative though. TRU is far from being the only source for Legos. So if grandparents or parents who are clueless about how much they are overpaying want to keep buying, then let them. The rest of us will continue to wait for real sales and bargains at Amazon, Lego.com and elsewhere and those places will flourish as well.

Yeah...Sadly, TRU knows what they were doing. Majority of buyers have NO idea what MSRP should be. Add in the holiday madness of gift giving, some buyers have no choice anyways (((

I should have been clearer. TRU raised their prices immensely and managed to sell most items on their shelves despite this. As far as TRU is concerned their current business practices work just fine and their sales didn't drop off as a result of them raising their prices. The majority of the population did not boycott this and there will most likely be no change in TRU holiday pricing policy since most stores would consider a nearly empty shelf a successful holiday.

I am surprised the 2011 SW advent calendar is still $50.

I can get one from Target for $30 or Meijer for $20.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

How about this one?
Lego Super Heroes set 6860: The Batcave
List: $69.99
TRU: $89.99 - a 28+% premium! I think this is the biggest markup I've seen from TRU.

Wow! Not a common move by TRU. But at my local TRU stores, its been corrected. Price is $20.99...not so bad at all. Hope it stays at that price point for many upcoming stuff. ( wishful thinking? :-D )

TRU has done this before, I remember buying SP 5974 Galactic Enforcer for $89.99 from TRU (MSRP was $99.99).

I made a spreadsheet showing the TRU markups for the 1st wave of 2012 sets. I wanted something I could easily reference on my smartphone when I'm at TRU. Hopefully this will help others maximize their savings.

The average TRU markup on the 1st wave of 2012 sets is 18% above RRP. The Super Heroes theme is the worst with Catwoman Catcyle City Chase topping it off at 54% over RRP. The four new Racers sets are avaialbe at RRP. Also the Friends theme didn't get hit to hard with only 3 of the 14 sets priced above RRP.

1st Wave 2012 Summary
Build and Rebuild - 20%-24% above RRP
Cars 10%-43% above RRP
City 10%-40% above RRP
Creator 11%-25% above RRP
Dino 10%-25% above RRP
Friends (-10%)-20% above RRP
Hero Factory 11%-25% above RRP
Ninjago 0%-33% above RRP
Racers No Markup!
SpongeBob 22%-32%
Super Heroes 10%-54% above RRP
Technic 0%-42% above RRP

RRP (Recommended Retail Price) - Confirmed using Brickset and LEGO Shop.
TRUP (ToysRUs Price) - Prices were taken from ToysRUs.com as of 01/05/2012.

Markup Percent Color Coding:
Red - 25% and above
Orange - 10% to 25%
Green - 0%

TRU has the Series 6 Minifigures for $3.49, but still has the Series 5 at $2.99. Interestingly enough, they still have the Series 4 listed on their website! (at $3.49)

Glad you liked that. After so many TRU sales that haven't done my collection any good at all, I had to vent.

Went to my local TRU yesterday. They had the V-wing for $27.99!!! $15 at Target all night long. WTF? Series 6 figs still $3.49. They have 4 boxes full. I got a few $10 rewards coupon and I didn't spend it on lego. I came home with baby wipes instead. Pretty sad.

I hope TRU is happy. I just checked and I've only spent $60 during this Rewards period (2/1-present). Most of that was on a few Leappad games, only LEGO was a few S6 minifigs. Contrast that with the 10/30-12/14 when I spent over $700. I'm still spending on toys, just not at TRU. Barnes & Noble, Target, Wal Mart, and LEGO have been getting my money now.
