Anyone else disappointed with Amazon deals?

Post by earl9371 » Fri Dec 10, 2010 7:01 am

Last year was my first as a Lego collector, and I scored some really great sets via the gold box deals on Amazon. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Creator...it seemed like every day or so I was landing a great deal. I'd been looking forward to this year's version for some time now, and yet I've found it very disappointing this time around. I've seen only two buildings sets since Thanksgiving, and several games in which I have no interest. Granted they've had some other independent deals, but nothing like the 40% off I was scoring last year. Anyone else noticing this and disappointed as I am?

At first I was, but then I felt better when I was able to get two Fire Brigades for $105 each. Also picked up another two Ostrich sets for $24 ($12 each). Portal of Atlantis wasn't bad for $60, but I'm never going to want to build it.

It's not bad with the BOGO that's also based on the discounted price on a number of sets. The problem with those lightening deals is that you have to be around for them and even then when it's a popular item it goes by like...umm, lightening...I prefer a steady sale that everyone can benefit from and more variety so you can pick and choose the sets you want to get. Overall, I think the sales have been too good judging by the frequency of shipments this year. :D

Some of the deals are getting pretty competative with TRU, Target, Walmart and amazon. I'm loving it but my wallet isn't.

Actually I think Amazon had some of the better deals recently. Like mentioned above especially with the BOGO50% deal I bought way too much :D
2 Fire brigades for 210 shipped, not going to get a deal like that anywhere else.
2 Quests of time for 36, or two green street speeders for 13$

I hear you on that. I went a little crazy the last two weeks and bought a bunch of sets from different stores.

I feel that the deals are getting better as it gets closer to xmas. Plus I think they want to clean their inventory for new stuff.

I like the new one up today on the mech, but I probably wont order it since it wont qualify for free shipping.

Yeah I noticed that and ordered it :) Perfect example how Toys N Bricks keeps you up to date and informed on LEGO sales. Everyone should know about this site for sales.

I was thinking the exact thing as I opened up this thread. If they shipped here, I would do nearly all of my Lego buying there. US MSRP is already so low, and with these ridiculously good deals I would still come out ahead even if the shipping cost was high. Does anybody have any idea why they don't ship Lego to Canada?

I am buyer from amazon for past three years and selling items from amazon which is my first time this year. I get good deal from amazon which I get free shipping with prime coupon with amazon even with two shipping and no charge for it.

I do not have problem with amazon deals?

Second, I was suprised that amazon can not ship to canada but possibly can not ship other than US/CAN.

They shipped mine overnight for some reason with the free shipping I got on the magma mech. I think the sales were good.

I did ok on the deals. I was upset with their packing. A Tantive IV arrived clearly sent with a massive hole in the front. Ok not so massive but still. Then again they shipped very quickly. Target took their sweet old time.

Did you contact with target customer service about your packaging? Did you get credit for it or exchange item?

I recently order with Lego Tie Defender that was lower cost at $37.50 but they charge too much on 2 days shipping is $39.92 so finally I called to cancel this order this morning and get full refund.

I didn't buy anything off of Amazon.com this year, but the deals I saw I thought were pretty good.
