Yes, that's about right.
You can get three complete sets out of a box of 60.

I was very lucky, they had just set it on the shelf at my TRU, I was shocked!

That list sounds about right. I grabbed 20 from Target and missed out on almost all the 3x ones.

Also, it sucks that almost all the figures have the flat 2x2 piece and nothing else. Makes groping them for parts hard.

Barts is the easiest to find with his slingshot.
Maggie is next with SLH and her unique body.
Marge and Hans are easy to differentiate if you find the 2x1 piece. Feel the legs. Plus marge has the flower.
Groundkeeper Willie, find his plunger.
Martin, the book.
Professor Frink, the beaker.
Smithers, the 2x2 stud.
Lisa, the cat's tail.
Patty, the purse.
Fallout Boy, the drink and then confirm with the short legs.
Edna Krabappel, if you happen upon the mug it's easy.
Comic Book Guy, same with the squisy.
Selma, Dr. Hibbert, Homer. If you've rule everyone else out then feel for the hair.

That's about how I did it too, Homer & Hibbert were my only issue, easily solved hibbert has the hair while Homer has pointier bits on the face.

Thanks for the tips on finding the figures. Always feel silly standing in the store doing that...I'm thinking about wearing dark glasses and a tucking a thin cane under my arm while I carefully feel the packages

I do a mix of buying a bunch and returning and feeling in store. Usually, I'll just feel them at home while I'm watching something on TV but when I only need 1 or 2 figures I'd rather find it in store then buy 20 or so and return.

Couple extra things I found.
Lisa and Maggie's hair (spikes) are pretty distinct.
So is Selma's. It's huge. Once you find it, you'll know.
Marge is also easy to find/differentiate. Her hair, flower petal, flower stalk...

I tried to get them all at once in the store.
It usually take at least 30 - 45 mins.
The last 15 minutes could be rough with concentration waning and legs tiring.

Not to mention, the store's sending a security guard to check on you.
