The Lego Movie: Minifigure series gone for good?

I know The Lego Movie minifigures (71004) were at all mayor retailers at the beginning of the year.
But since the recent release of the DVD/BR I thought Lego will have a new fresh wave of minifigures to go with the movie sales. So far I have been to almost every Target and Walmart, TRU in my area and have found 0, zip, nada minifugures packs.
It seems strange that a company will not take advantage of the record sales of a movie promoting their products.

Are these gone for good from retailers? Will they come back?
Is the internet the only place to buy them?
I'm wondering if it's only in my area, or anybody else experiencing the same.

Each of previous mystery mini-fig pack series have been one-and-done, and I would be shocked if The Lego Movie series were different. You might come across a random box that was accidentally left in the backroom for a few months, but I don't think you'll see a re-release wave anywhere.

Bricklink, Brickowl, and the forum marketplace are probably the best places to find a specific figure at this point in time.

As soon as the movie game out every one of the polybags went within days. I was hoping for clearance or a sale on them and the movie bombing, but nope. Still need woman construction worker, I have trade red older series for all of the set.

I was doing the rounds to all of my local Target's and I did find one store that had one of those aisle boxes overflowing with Movie minifigs. In fact they had CMF's going back about 4 series.

Oh man! Lucky you. If only I could find something like that.

I ended up ordering the ones that I wanted the most online.
