Garden state plaza in NJ is the only one I have been to an it's an hour drive. I can't believe how many stores people have been to. We've gone for the monthly build but the line was so long and it's on a weekday so it's not something we get to do much. The toysrus builds tend to be closer and have less of a wait as well so we just try for those. There is a Legoland in NY that we were thinking of visiting. Anyone been there?

Yeah, it wasn't a conscious thing at first, but now it's like I make a pilgrimage whenever I'm within a reasonable distance of one while traveling.

I haven't been to the one in Yonkers, but I did go to the one in Schaumberg, IL (outside of Chicago). They're both LEGOLAND Discovery Centers (LDCs) - so don't expect a big theme park. They're indoor attractions with a handful of small rides, a 4-D movie theater and a miniland exhibit comprised of architecture from the city it's in. There was another area that was a jungle theme that had large models of animals, it basically looked like the opening scenes of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". There is usually a themed area that changes from time to time. There was a Star Wars exhibit when we went to the Schaumberg location.

Adding another one, making the list 10 total. I ended up at "The Outlet Collection - Jersey Gardens" mall in Elizabeth, NJ yesterday to drop my daughter off with my sister-in-law for a visit with her aunt, uncle and cousins. Found out there was a LEGO Store there so I figured I'd pop in. It's one of the more unique looking LEGO Stores I've been to, since it's sort of a triangularly shaped space with a long glass front forming the longest side of the triangle. Didn't buy anything, though.

I used to travel quite a bit for work, and I usually managed to get to the Lego store when I was in a new city (especially when the Canadian dollar was of similar value to the US dollar and Lego looked really cheap in the US). I'm not travelling as much as I was, and the Canadian dollar is worth a fair bit less than the US dollar right now, so I don't think that I will be adding to my list very much in the short term.

Only 1 - Cincinnati Ohio

There are zero LEGO stores in Kentucky :( I need to make another trip back to Cincinnati but I hate the drive and traffic in Cincinnati. I need to try out the Nashville TN store sometime.

I went to the Lego store at downtown disney a few months ago when I went to celebration (which was fantastic).

Even though the store was pretty new and well stocked I couldn't force myself to buy anything because of the tax. An extra 9% added on to everything in the store made it seem like a rip off. (similar to how I feel when I walk into TRU ;-) )

So this leads to my question...what Lego stores, other than the one in Tigard, don't charge tax?

A quick search shows Oregon, New Hampshire, Deleware and Alaska as the states with no sales tax...I guess I can probably look up those Lego stores as well...

I'll edit this post after I do...in case others might find that info useful.

Seems like the only 2 Lego stores without tax are:
Washington Square Mall, Oregon (near Portland)
Christiana Mall, Delaware (near Wilmington)

My daughter has been to all of the above, in addition to Rockefeller Center, NY ;-)

Was the Rockefeller Center Grand Opening a big mess (A ton of people)?
Look, you wake up one day, and your legs, they just give and you just can't run anymore.

captainrex803...

The Rockefeller Center Grand Opening was held outside using a majority of the gardens/fountains and sidewalks all around the store. It was busy but not mayhem. Certainly not as bad as when the Christmas tree is lit!

I think I have been to those too, maybe not the Burlington Mall. I can't remember.

Also went to the Fifth Ave Store (Flatiron District, New York, NY) for a Bionicle Showcase.
The Eastview Mall in Victor (Rochester) NY, which oddly I think faces west.
And a store that is now closed off of 290 near Worcester MA.

And in 2000 went to the only one there was in whatever the Disney World Stores were called back then. I think ti was Disney Marketplace.
