10221 super star destroyer

Post by lordoflego » Wed Apr 02, 2014 7:04 pm

Star Wars set 10221 super star destroyer sold out on legoshop.com. At $400 it is(was) one of the most expensive Lego sets ever. Just found it on their website as sold out, nowadays I don't know what that means. Just out of stock or newly retired. This may be my last chance to pick one up, at local Lego store if they have it or toysrus.com I'm sure still has it.

I assume with the sandcrawler coming. it means this one is on the way out. Just like last yr they retired the b-wing to make way for the ewok village. too bad we couldn't get a May the 4th sale though.

Lego will have more SSD don't Panic, and the B-wing retired last year because they were not selling, The Ewok Village was coming out anyway.

The brick show just talked about a short list of sets retiring soon and the SSD was the main set mentioned. Sometimes they do get info wrong but it seems about the right time for the SSD to be retired.

Why do you think there will be more waves of SSDs produced emazer?

The only thing that makes me doubt the fact that it's retiring is that Death Star production started in 2008 or 09 and SSD is about two years younger. Anyway, I bought SSD last week, just in case :)

They call it the Live Star for a reason. You can not compare any set to the Death Star as justification for why it should or shouldn't be retired.

It is the exception to the rule.

What other soon-to-retire sets were mentioned at brick show? How about first minecraft?

Looks like it's gone for good, I'm glad I was able to grab two of them. Now it's $600+ on eBay....
