My mom told me to play outside, so I did.

Fishin' on the Lake Surprise

~175 parts (includes exploded minifig & the burr)

Freshwater fishing is among the most prevalent summer past times (especially here in Minnesota), and one that holds countless golden memories for me. Fortunately, I've never had an encounter quite like this one, but I've certainly ran into wild bears camping up north before (always from a good, safe distance). Hopefully this particular bear just takes the relaxing fisherman's single catch of the day and lets him be.

Summertime (around 250 pcs.)

Since the first days of the summer this song is constantly in my head. So when this contest was announced I had no choice but to do something about "Summertime" (though it is not an illustration to "Porgy and Bess")

Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.

Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry.

Star Wars in 3D at the Drive In. This vignette represents the scene in the original Star Wars movie where Darth Vader enters Princess Leah's ship in search of the stolen Death Star plans.
I used 121 pieces.

Based on a conversation where my little sister asked what I was going to do for the summer. She looked super-sad when I told her I had to keep working, no Summers off when your an adult.

Slip-n-Slide
When I was young the hot summers were brutal! How did we cool off? Well the slip-n-slide of course! I'd also have my boom box outside with some cool summer tunes!

This was a joint project between myself and my 8 year old son. The setting was my idea, the implementation and story line were his. Thanks TnB for the inspiration!
