Anyone who can do the Death Star in less than 200 pieces should win be default IMO =)
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

If you are a registered member on THIS site (which you are by your name and # of posts, etc.). Just submit a write-up with photos before May 15 =)

I like how the font was miniaturized for the list of allowed sets.

Just like what Luciant said, you have to be registered to the site before April 3. So yes, you qualify.

Would large base plates count if you are just setting the parts of your build on for photography as one of the 200 pieces>

PS. Great contest, and awesome prizes. Can't wait to see the entries.

Yes, the base plates counts. But keep in mind that we can't really count the amount of pieces you have used from the pictures. (and no, we're not going to come to your house and count  ) As long as its reasonable and looks like its under 200 pieces, its good to go. Remember that members do the voting. All we do is eliminate entries that do not qualify. ;)

Try to keep it honest! 200 pieces is a lot to count but the competition is meant to test your abilities as an artist. Restrictions force you to get creative.

So by tournament does that mean creations will go up against each other? Like a bracket system?

Or is it just a cool title? :P

Considering he's already explained the way the victor is going to be chosen, I'm guessing its just a cool title.

Ok, sorry if this is a really stupid question, but just what exactly do you mean by "Entries MUST be completely new"? Since we're "copying" the design of an existing set, it can't be completely new, or do you mean we can't have built it before the contest starting or do you mean something completely different that I am not thinking of?

Can't have built it before the contest. Must be built for this contest. Can't use an old photograph of an MOC you made previous to this contest. Here's a great example of what a typical entry could look like. The Brothers Brick recently blogged this MOC by a Matthew Raehl. When this contest was announced I thought of this creation.

Image

Now if Matthew Raehl were a member of Toys N Bricks, he could not enter this contest using that MOC. He built it for a different purpose, before the contest was announced. He posted it on the internet and made it public to the world. If he wanted to enter and assuming that he was a member, he would have to make a new MOC.

Now with all that said, if you have a picture of a miniature version of any of these sets you haven't shared or posted anywhere else on the internet, you could technically enter them in the contest. No one would know, but just like the 200 piece limit that you technically could violate, it is not sporting to do so. Also if it were discovered that the picture was taken before the contest ever started, you would be disqualified and probably barred from future contests. Keep in mind that with Flickr, most cameras include a time stamp that stays with the image file and that Flickr will post that information as well as the upload date.

I hope this clears this matter up.

PS Don't try and just make copies of the MOCs in that picture, we'll know where you got them from

Considering there are 200 pieces alone in the bottom right hand corner of that moc (making the street and lower level of the tan building) this contest is going to be interesting to see what people come up with.

Haha well I just thought I would give an example that would fit in with this contest.

The big sets are going to be hard, hence the reason why its a contest. 8-) But there are some smallers sets that you can choose too.
