I do like this contest better as it does not encourage kicking up 2 week old threads with a one word reply, or re posting old sales.

It was only one day and it was already getting out of hand. I'm hearing lots of complaints about it so I decided to change the rules a bit. Definately a frustration and can make the forums harder to read. The last Top Contributor Forum Contest was not as bad as this one though.

@micah82, You can do a review of a set you already built, but showing a picture of all the pieces laid out does make a review more informative.

Not a rule I go by much. I think its important to point out new pieces, or interesting pieces, but all of the pieces I think sometimes is just a waste, especially for the smaller sets. Drawing attention to the details that people might not be able to glean from other pictures is what is more important to focus on, to show them what the set actually looks like and feels like, not just how it looks on the box.

Here's my basic review outline.

Number and Name
Price
Pieces
Price Per Piece
Minifigures
LEGO Description

Minifigures (Back and Front)
Minifigure Accessories (Weapons, Items, Helmets, Hair)
Stand Alone Set (No Minifigures)
Interesting Pieces (Printed Tiles, New Pieces, Rare Pieces)
Set Functions (Gears, Technic Functions, Power Functions, Destructible Areas)

Final Summary and Comments (Concerns, Praises)
Recommendation On The Set (Usually Always A Yes)
Encouragement for Other People To Review Sets

It's a pretty good format. Usually I end up with about 15 photos or more. I think if you have less than 10 photos, you probably didn't do a very good job reviewing the set.

2 Photos of the box or packaging, back and front.
3 Photos of the minifigures, back, front and with all their accessories.
As many photos of the set as is warranted. The bigger the set, the more pictures you should have, from all angles and closeups if possible. This includes the interesting pieces or rare pieces that may be included in the set.

Remember, your opinions always matter on the set. I had a lot of people tell me my review on the Droid Tri Fighter made them want to go out and get it. The better your review the more likely people are to heed your recommendation.

So I always start at the top & go down through the different forums. This morning I was like "cool idea but why the need to change the contest?" Then I made it through the other forums. Thank you. Very much.

The rules say
Contest ends on August 28 at 9:00 GMT.
Could someone tell me if that is 9am GMT or 9pm GMT?
