Potential LEGO Ideas Set: Fohzen's LEGO Frozen Elsa's Ice Palace

Post by Toys N Bricks » Wed Feb 18, 2015 5:46 pm

Fohzen's LEGO Frozen Elsa's Ice Palace creation has reached 10 000 supporters on the LEGO Ideas site. It will now go on to the review stage where it could potentially become a official LEGO set under IDEAS. Note that LEGO already has a set for this under Disney Princess (41062 Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle).

You can check out the LEGO Ideas creation here.

This is an amazing creation that looks much better than the Lego version. It's too bad we'll never be able to buy it.

I think the lego version is much better. The snow creature is better.

The LEGO version is terrible and looks nothing like the scene from the movie. I could actually see myself buying this. That being said, I can't see LEGO supporting this idea for the following reasons:

It looks like it would be very expensive and all the little girls that would want this would never be able to afford it.

It looks like a complicated build. Since most of the bricks are the same color, the instructions would be very difficult to read. I can see younger builders becoming very frustrated.

LEGO designers can simplify it and make it easier to build and cheaper. And probably end up with the current 41062 set.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but why can't LEGO have people preorder sets using a credit card and then use that to decide whether to produce the sets and then produce a number of sets that approximates the demand?

I assume you're referring to the impressive stairs that Elsa creates first, before the castle. In the film, those stairs lead to the first floor of the castle exterior. If the MOC creator were to make those stairs, they would need to be on the outside of the castle, and lead down to a new sub-level BELOW the castle. The set would need a new section for an exterior snowy area.

This set had me thinking about why LEGO hasn't recreated more iconic buildings, like Cinderella's Castle or Space Mountain from the Magic Kingdom. If those were in the Architecture line, I would buy them instantly!
