Hi all:
I loved Legos as a kid back in the 80's but hadn't touched them in years. I bought my daughters (ages 3 & 6) the Lego City Advent Calendar this year and they loved it! They got more legos for X-mas and I'm actually getting more into it than them. I've enjoyed what I have seen so far at this site.

Welcome to the forum that will save you a lot of money as you somehow simultaneously go into debt!
I used my daughter as an excuse for a month or two when I first got back into the scene. Then I just admitted it was all for me. She's 4, so her attention span isn't long enough for complicated builds, but since Christmas we've built 7639 Camper, 7635 4WD w/Horse Trailer, and 7591 Construct-a-Zurg. We still have 5891 Apple Tree House and 7948 Outpost Attack in mid-build (those are, actually, all hers. I built all mine within the week between Christmas and New Year's ;)).
She's really getting good at recognizing the pieces, though, and I'm indoctrinating her in the language, like 2x4 plate, 1x6 brick, etc. LEGO is definitely great for color recognition, practicing numbers, spacial relations and recognizing difference between instruction steps.

Yes, this is true.. I've saved a ton but spent so much more on Lego thanks to this site =)
I don't have kids, but I pretend I do when people ask me about my large Lego purchases in stores =)
"indoctrinating" has such a bad ring to it, yet at the same time is very fitting, no?
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
