LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011

Post by brickman300 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 3:10 pm

This is since lego's license with star wars will expire in 2011. Whether or not the license will be renewed is unknown. I found this information at lego.wikia.com it is called brickipedia.

Ok, first of all, change the title please, since you DO NOT KNOW THIS FOR A FACT, you are only speculating.

Secondly, everyone already knows that the licence is currently only until 2011. However, Star Wars is LEGO's top selling licence, and makes them a whole lot of money. The odds that they would not renew it are practically zero.

Thirdly, LEGO has said at various places, that they have no intention of letting Star Wars go.

The line in not going anywhere. So stop worrying,

I mentioned this in another thread earlier last month and was promptly bombarded with links to press conferences and panels where LEGO stated that they are not letting the series go and that it has become a fixture of LEGO, etc. etc. While it is true that the licensing agreement does run out in 2011, it is almost guaranteed to be extended.

EDIT: This should be in the Star Wars sub forum.

Since the Lego group is the fourth largest toy manufacturer in the world, and the star wars franchise is one of their most popular franchises. There must be some pretty good revenue in it for Lucas Arts. I cannot image that this deal will not be extended. However I am still dreaming for TLG to license the star trek franchise

oh yeah I said that. STAR TREK!

Seeing how well this line is going despite the insane mark ups, I doubt it will be gone anytime soon. I cannot imagine what the prices will be like in a few years if they continue to be like this.

Look at the boxes they have. Really big on the front, really skinny on the sides. Do not forget, pieces uses up only around 1/3 of the box like the echo base.
