LEGO Planet Series 4 - 75009 75010 75011

Post by SpaceNinjaDino » Tue Jul 23, 2013 10:16 pm

LEGO Planet Series 4:
75009: Snowspeeder / Luke / Hoth
75010: B-Wing / Pilot / Endor
75011: Tantive IV / Rebel / Alderaan

Has any seen these at retail? I'm seeing some popup on eBay, so they must be near full release.

I'm really excited about the B-Wing and will be getting several of these. They need to fight off my huge TIE collection.

The snowspeeder is cool, but it is out of scale with my 5 Brickmaster AT-ATs and already bought 10 advent calendar snowspeeders to go with them. I will still pick up one for fun.

The Tantive IV is also nice. No need to get more than 1 at that scale.

Overall, I like this series since it's all OT and includes 1 "army" building vehicle.

Will we see a series 5+?

They've been in Europe for quite awhile. I believe August 1 is the official street date in the U.S. I agree, Series 4 looks good, after a so-so Series 3.

What's going on? Aug 1st and Sept 1st have past. Still no Planet Series 4. Some stores have sold through their planets. Bricklink prices are $13+shipping. What's the news?

From Bricks To Bothans is reporting that they will not be sold in the US at all, and only might show up in Canada. Speculation is that the large retailers (Walmart, Target, TRU) took a pass on them due to the fact that the first three series didn't sell well. I don't know obviously, but I do know that I bought all of the first three series at big discounts. They did not sell well at MSRP, so I could totally see the big retailers taking a pass. Too bad, they were cute little models and had nice figures you usually couldn't find in other sets.

This will be the last Planet Series, next year will be replaced with Microfighters Recruitment, which I think is much better than Planet Series.

Thanks for the update hatcher. It's sad to see the line end and also not get the last series with normal means. I wish shop.lego.com would at least carry it. Make it a shop exclusive for the US. That would have been fine.

Tankm, how do you know the recruitment line is going to be better? They are going to have a TIE Interceptor and you could make a direct comparison and I'm sure the recruitment version will be more detailed. However, I know I will prefer the scale of the 1-man ships from the planet series. The recruitment line sounds perfect for the Millenium Falcon ship, but perhaps nothing else in my line up.

We really needed a OT Y-Wing planet release. Now I'll just hope they do a polybag. The old mini series required the whole set to make the bonus Y-Wing.

The Microfighters Recruitment follows the chibi-style vehicles released in SDCC/NYCC. It fits 1-minifig and It's not to proper scale as chibi-style is not meant to.

Sorry, my bad it's just a personal liking on the chibi-style vehicles vs the micro-scale style in planet series. :)

Noticed this page for Lego US: http://www.lego.com/en-us/starwars/prod ... le-galaxy/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Perhaps all hope is not lost for US availability if Series 4 is still listed.

Have these showed up in Canada yet? If so, I am driving up there!

I have not seen them at The Lego Store, Target, Walmart, TRU, or Chapters in my recent travels. All but the Lego store which was in the GTA, are in the Barrie area. So therefore they may have made it into the bigger markets closer to the border.

So the recruitment sets are chibi-style? Ouch. I'm wondering if the MF recruitment set will have a printed cockpit cone that would fit on the old 4488. I'd buy it just for that.

I bit the bullet back on Sept 10th and bought 20 B-Wings between Amazon.fr (limit of 5) and Bricklink. Plus got one Tantive IV and one Snowspeeder. It's pretty steep at $17 each after S&H costs and the Amazon package is still shipping. I tried making another order just now from Amazon.fr and they no longer allow shipment to USA.

The B-Wing is pretty cool especially with the printed cockpit, but as with all the mini models, needs fixing. Easiest changes: four of the 1x1 dark gray plates should be replaced by 1x1 dark gray tiles to remove unsightly studs. The orange 1x1 round plates should also use orange 1x1 round tiles (a new part color that was just introduced with 2013 advent calendar and Friends Dolphin Cruiser). After that, it becomes a rebuild.

Bad news that I think confirms what we already knew. I emailed Lego Customer Support about this and got the following response (snipped for only the relevant part):
I'm sorry that the sets you inquired about are not available in your country. Each year, we update our assortment of items with new and exciting products to suit a wide variety of interests.
However, a LEGO® product offered in another country may be, at some point, available in your country. For a current list of product available for your country, please visit http://www.Shop.LEGO.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or contact our Consumer Service Department.
Basically, sounds like it confirms that it won't be sold in the US. As it's not available currently and I kindof doubt it will be offered in the future as the line is discontinued, I think we're out of luck.

That's a shame both as I think they were fun little sets at $10 and because, as a completist, the cheapest they can be had on eBay is for about $25 each. Plus, the b wing and corellian corvette look pretty nice as the mini models go.

If you want them cheaper than eBay, check Bricklink. I was able to get them on average of $17 shipped (items were $12.xx in the international stores) and it was pretty fast. I'm still waiting for the extra 5 B-Wings from Amazon.fr. The tracking information says delayed due to external delays.

Anyone who is a fan of B-Wings or other Rebel craft, should not miss out.
