With only 5 mini-figures, also only one and a half being exclusive makes it kind of weak for a $200+ grand lord of the rings set. Even 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush being cheaper and all have more figures than this.iccarus wrote:Oh wow. So much awesome in a single box.

It's a licensed LoTR set with 5 minifigs, an ent, an eagle, a light brick and a cost per piece of $0.085.
There isn't a better deal out there.

I'm not going to be able to wait for a sale for this one... I may have to just pay MSRP for this one

I agree. This is the most epic LOTR set ever! (That is until they make Barad-dûr.)Edmond Dantes wrote: It's a licensed LoTR set with 5 minifigs, an ent, an eagle, a light brick and a cost per piece of $0.085.

$0.085 USD per piece, but it is more up here in CANADA. I did not say the set is bad, it is just a little lacking on the mini-figure part. The ent is a minus for me, if they made it as a mold like the starwars rancor then it would have been a plus. Eagle we can get from the gate set. Light bricks are like $1-2 on bricklink, so no big deal there. Also I was hoping for something along the line of the old 7785 Arkham Asylum set, good price to piece ratio, with 7 mini figures, 4 being exclusive.Edmond Dantes wrote:

Re: LEGO 10237 Tower of Orthanc (LOTR 2013 July Exclusive)
Gotta echo the lament for sparse minifigs. A set this size should have at least 7, without having to include the Ent and eagle. But yes, knowing diddly-squat about LotR, the tower looks awesome.
Re: LEGO 10237 Tower of Orthanc (LOTR 2013 July Exclusive)
Just took a look at the designer video and I honestly say that I will not be getting it at full price for sure now. Due to the fact that the set is priced at the range of a modular, it does not follow the typical modular build. What I am saying is that it is not layered like the other modular buildings nor even a open doll house like the haunted house. Lego decided the set as an open back building like any $100 city buiilding set. That is very disappointing, since we will need to buy 2 of these in order to modifly. Maybe Lego intented it that way when they were designing it. Before I would rate the set 8/10 with lack of mini-figures and the design of the ent is pretty mechanical. Now I will only give it a 7/10 because of the design of the tower is also a little disappointing, in order to have a full tower, we are forced to buy more parts or 2 of this.
