New Iron Man Sets!

Post by dezslade » Thu Feb 07, 2013 3:17 pm

I noticed these browsing around the Barnes and Noble website:
76008: Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-ga ... 3419200370
76007: Super Heroes Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-ga ... 3419190459
76006: Super Heroes Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/toys-ga ... 3419190442

I'm not impressed with...any of them. I want the War Machine and...that's about it.
...and Mandarin looks like Hagrid from Harry Potter (http://brickset.com/minifigs/?m=hp111)

They seem ok to me, but I am not really a comic book collector.

I can see picking up the 96 piece set for an Iron Man and some parts, at least.

Thanks for posting!

Yeah, first pics of these sets I have seen. Nothing too spectacular but being a super hero completist I will be buying.

Must admit, I'm not feeling the love for these. Perhaps after actually seeing them I'll change my mind, but right now, not buying into it.

Okay, I love the fact that the "Malibu Mansion Attack" set comes with "dummy". That's incredible!

These sets must be for the upcoming Iron Man 3 movie!

Boring.

ANd the $13 set looks horrible, I don't understand the difference between $13 and $20 sets, for the extra $7 you get so much more money's worth.

Wish the Malibu mansion was a UCS. That'd be sweet.

That's also another way to cash in on the super heroes theme! Change the suit a little bit, throw in a boat / vehicle and add another set / $$ the tropes of TLG. I wish the Malibu set was a Ucs too or perhaps there would have been an iron man mega pack which would combine the sets and also include possibility of creating a larger (mech) version of iron man, oh well it's well, this is going to be an expensive year between super heroes / LOTR / hobbit / creator sets alone. What's everybody's list like?

I've noticed all the $20 super hero sets have been great values IMO. They always have 1, 2, or even 3 minifigures that I really want. I think those are the "gift" sets from LEGO and they make the least amount on.

$13 is pricey for what you get, but it's a good impulse buy item and is the cheapest you can get with that armor. The Malibu set is decent for what it is, a play set. Like the $13 one, it does seem a bit pricey for $40. Nice number of minifigs, but half of them aren't very compelling as must haves.

When I read "Malibu Mansion Attack" I thought of a Marvel/ Paradisa crossover. TLG would probably just use the mini-dolls from the Friends line...but still. I like the set but I enjoy what I thought a whole lot more.

The pilot and Killian (Boat Driver) don't look like normal flesh tones in the photo to me; looks off or something. Or do you think that's because of the smaller image quality?

I'm hoping they have an exclusive that will be shown at Toy Fair in NY this weekend to give this line more gusto because it's a little of a let down, but I do like the price points they hit.

You do realize Toy Fair exclusives aren't available to the public right? Just the press attending the event. I really don't want to see them make another awesome minifigure you can't own for under $500.

You are thinking of Comic Con exclusives. They meant that every NYC Toy Fair there is normally one S@H exclusive set that LEGO shows off, but sometimes they wait.

It looks like B & N doesn't allow us to actually look at the set. I wonder if someone got in trouble with LEGO here.
