Re: Lego 8684 Collectable Minifigures Series 2
With only two months in between the releases, will they coincide with each other and run longer than 2 months? I can't see Lego running Series 1 for only two months on completely new molds then stopping it.
Quite a different approach than their vintage series.

I have a feeling even if they are stopped that it'll come back by packaging them in sets so you'll still get them just not all at once separately...for the same reason that you mentioned with the cost of operations, it doesn't make sense to just stop completely.

Re: Lego 8684 Collectable Minifigures Series 2
2 months is what they've said and it appears that 2 months is what they'll stick to. They said they would release the first wave in Europe a month before N America and they stuck to that pretty well. I think that we'll just have to trust them on their word. Their reasoning is probably that once you snap up the first 16 people will clamor for new models so they want to keep them moving. There aren't too many that you would want a ridiculous amount of repeats of (unless you want your own cheer leading team perhaps). Also the two month window gives them that 'limited time only' feel to them. It creates a sense of urgency amongst the people to go out and buy as many as possible RIGHT NOW. That's why people are snapping these up in the boxload.

Where has it been stated that it would be released two months after Series 1? This is the first I've heard of that...

I'll try and find it for you. When they first announced this whole deal of selling these collectible minifigures they outlined their plans for this and it was stated there. Stay tuned for the source.vynsane wrote:Where has it been stated that it would be released two months after Series 1? This is the first I've heard of that...

Brickset just published a news article with a link to an online store that has the only release date I've heard, and it's for Europe - specifically Germany.
There it says September, so I'm thinking my first estimate of Nov/Dec. for N. America seems almost spot-on, maybe October/November. With a witch and vampire in the set, October seems like a natural fit!

Well I couldn't find my source after taking a look back through Eurobricks (I'm positive I read it there) so I guess I have to retract what I said. I swear I read it though. You're right though October seems pretty spot on for a witch and vampire. I believe that this wave is better than the first. More original figs and more original accessories : )vynsane wrote:Brickset just published a news article with a link to an online store that has the only release date I've heard, and it's for Europe - specifically Germany.

I'm dieing to get my hands on the Afro and the surfer's hair. Overall, Series 2 interests me a lot more than series 1.

I would create a perfect dance scene with the Disco Dancer & Pop Star!
The Adventurer would be like Johnny Thunder's Father!

The vampire face is awesome. I wonder how many people are going to do Twilight MOCs, though, once ser. 2 comes out
The disco guy's hair is a black version of the clown's from ser. 1. The maraca guy's face gives me a Danny Trejo vibe. I like the karate guy a lot, and the surfer's emo haircut will be useful. The 'Adventurer' looks like a mix between Dr. Kilroy and Baron Von Barron from the original Adventurers line and Teddy Roosevelt.

The vampire face is too pale for Twilight :P Plus he looks too cool for Twilight.
I'm not really excited for the Adventurer. Vynsane pointed out what he looks like and that's why I don't like him. He doesn't look very original like the rest of the minifigures. He looks like LEGO threw him in because they couldn't think of any other characters to fill the void.

True on both accounts.legitimatealex wrote:The vampire face is too pale for Twilight :P Plus he looks too cool for Twilight.
I like that they're revisiting old themes, though, with the Robin Hood/Forrestman, Cowboy, Indian and Ninja in series 1 and the Adventurer in series 2. It's like they're testing the waters to see if a particular figure will take off, and maybe they'll bring those themes back in some limited capacity.I'm not really excited for the Adventurer. The only 1 I really want from the 2nd series is the Mime.
Ok maybe the Poncho guy too.

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!
Re: LEGO 8684 Collectable Minifigures - Series 2
My faves are the Spartan, the Policeman, the Surfer and the Pharoah. Overall, I like the Series 1 lineup better, but these 4 look awesome!

Re: LEGO 8684 Collectable Minifigures - Series 2
I really hope you're right on that account. Some of those minifigures represent the most popular themes they've ever produced. People would just gobble up the sets if they rereleased them.vynsane wrote: I like that they're revisiting old themes, though, with the Robin Hood/Forrestman, Cowboy, Indian and Ninja in series 1 and the Adventurer in series 2.
