They are also listed at Smyths as well. Here's the product descriptions from LEGO. Still want this to be released in the US. I was planning on opening one every day in December on YouTube.

Remember when they would not release the Castle Advent Calendars in the US except with a secret code when calling to LEGO Shop? They should have had a regular US release. Those were always the best advent calendars.
I hope this does get a normal US release.

The Castle Advent Calendar was supposed to be a European release only, but a bunch were shipped to the US by accident, so they sold them on shop@home (I think it was by phone only with a code or something). They went fast.

The Pirates Advent Calendar wasn't released in the US, so it's not without precedent.

Should be trivial (but pricey!*) to import though.

(* £20 = USD$30; shipping should be no more than £13 = USD$20.)

I posted this in the availability forum but I'll post it here.

Check out the comment by Model Gal on a Brickset news article:
The Friends Advent Calendars were technically cancelled, but they have already been made, so they will be selling in both the European and US markets (I don't know about other markets). It was on the Ambassador Forums and I heard it from Kevin Hinkle himself last weekend. So not to fret, they will be available!

Somehow I missed that they were canceled...I wonder why since the Friends line seems to be doing well (based on the fact that the LBS by me was sold out of many sets for many months).

Thanks for the info, this is good news for the US.

There was another thread on this. The reason that this set is canceled was because they had yield issues with the parts. However, they still made a first batch. So LEGO stores supposedly got one shipment each and are not expecting any more and also not available on shop.lego.com. The cancellation had nothing to do with the popularity. Europe might have better availability.

I couldn't make it to the LEGO store (4 hour round trip), so I ordered four from Germany. Costing $47 USD each after shipping. That's better than eBay at least. I'm assuming the retail is $39.99 because that's the price of the City Advent Calendar. With tax and gas costs, I'm actually getting a better deal. Now let's see if they arrive without being crushed.

----
Update: Two of them have arrived and they are both boxes are crushed. One more than the other. I'm sure the same will happen with the other two. I'm sure the pieces are fine inside, but this is one set where the box is part of the product.

Retail is actually $34.99, which surprised me when we picked one up for my daughter.

Just saw your location - most likely, it's available on the LEGO S@H site for Europe only. I can't see it anywhere.
