I'm planning to go to a local LEGO store May 4th, when it opens (10 AM) and I don't know what set would be on sale. I do plan to get enough for 2, maybe 3 chrome droids. If they aren't too busy in the morning after I get the stuff, maybe I'll buy something off their PAB wall.

Please forgive the questions...we were not buying SW sets last May! Does the LBS and S&H have the same deals across the board? And is it only announced on the 4th?

Just trying to prepare myself! Thanks!

They usually send websites like this one a list of what will be on sale for the May the 4th sale a few days in advance, but there is no guarantee they will this year. Stay tuned I guess.

I believe last year after the promotion, they let people buy any sets of $75 or more for the SW fig. I'm thinking because the sale was so lame that they didn't get the turnout they expected.

Where did you hear that those two sets were going to be 20% off?

So would a purchase on the 4th of the UCS R2-D2 qualify for 2 TC-14s since it's more than twice $75? Or would you still get only one? I had heard of someone on a different promotion getting more than one of the promo because his spending dollar value was more than double the amount needed to get it. So R2 at $179 should qualify for 2 TCs, right? Trying to make sure so i know what to buy that day.

No, only one per order. If someone once got two it was probably at a LEGO store where they didn't know the terms of the promo.

I hope not. That would be too tempting for my newly acquired Lego addiction.

kraftcheesy wrote:No kidding on selling a TC-14. I went to see if I could buy one just now and somehow people acquired some already and are charging $70-100 for them on ebay.

That's just crazy.

As for the X-wing. I already have the Dagobah X-wing with Yoda's hut otherwise that would be my choice.

R2-D2 is looking like the best option but it is insanely expensive.

the price won't hold, its only that high because the general public has not had the opportunity yet. Once it's out, it will probably reach the price of the black arf trooper ie $30 and the buyers will be those who could not get one from lego during the promotion. Right now you can get it for $50 on ebay.

if you were spending $50, the better gamble is to pick up the darth maul minifig from the toyfair which currently has no public future event where it would be made available to the public (similar to the white boba fett). but over time, white boba fett also drop to around $25-30.

Absolutely nothing because from what everyone has been saying around here, only the huge sets are going to be on sale lol.

My older bro says that the May the 4th Be With You even used to be a lot better in terms of deals. I would have to agree with him because I'm not impressed.

Thinking about the SSD. Is 20% good enough?

from US site yes, from anywhere else no!! Unless you can get more discount or high cash back rewards 20% for me (from canada) just gets it to the regular US msrp!

I bought $500 of lego gift cards for $400 (20% off) from craigslist so that's my way of justifying stacking the two discounts to make the SSD purchase palatable.
