I'm not quite sure the origin of the figure, but I've heard that Slave 1 is going to be $80, too.

It's speculative, but based on the price people paid in Euros when amazon.fr had them available WAY early.

Aaaah holy crap. I can only hope this will be knocked down lower in the US...I was really hoping it would be a bit lower than that. I can't really justify buying something so expensive with just 4 minifigs, even if they are all awesome.

I still don't understand why this one's so much bigger than the Palpatine Shuttle that will be out this year.

Because most standard retail sets aren't strictly 'to scale' with the minifigures that represent the passengers. Generally speaking, they're much smaller than they actually should be, in order to keep the cost down.

This being a 10xxx set number means it's a LEGO exclusive meant for the hard core collector in the same vein as the UCS series or the Death Star playset. Therefore, they've actually built it more to the 'realistic' scale and thus the size difference in relation to the Palpatine Shuttle.

Lego is making many big sets with minifigures now. This way, they can be targeted at kids as well as adults even though they're meant for adults. Kids see the republic dropship and death star will more likely get it even if its expensive with the figures compared to the other UCS sets without minifigures.

Until Luminara appears in a new set, she is without a doubt not going to appear in a magnet set.

Quick, save them to your hard drive before LEGO makes them go away!

Seriously, that looks freaking awesome. I want.

28 inches tall (71 centimeters) and 22 inches wide (57 centimeters) when the foldable wings are fully deployed.
Wow! This is a giant beast. I better start saving money now for the big price of $260 :)

I had decided to not collect LEGO star wars sets, and focus more on original themes.
But this thing really is going to test that resolution.

For those who may not afford this pricey 10212 set, you can get a mini replica of this from the 20016 Imperial Shuttle. Its this coming Brickmaster issue for july-august.

Can the cargo area open? From the looks so far, its lacking an interior. The figures are nice but maybe adding new exclusive figures would be even better since you can get most of them from magnets and cheaper sets nowadays. Other than that, the exterior is lovely and is surely a piece of art.

For those who don't know yet, a video released by lego with the designers for this set is up. No retractable landing gear is a disappointment :(
