According to the prizes listed for that contest, one of the sets will be the Batcave, which is not really that surprising. The first wave of sets will probably be Batman-heavy, which again, will not be surprising. For a comic book nerd like me, this is all pretty exciting!
Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
Poison Ivy is lovely!! Joker and Catwoman looks the same as before.
I always liked Batman and Superman, but Wonder Woman is so cute in Lego form. 2012 will be an expensive year..

FBTB coverage of San Diego Comic-Con is now available:

Apparently the mentioned brick-built figures are actually composed of Hero Factory elements. Even though I'm not a big fan of DC and Marvel, I think this is quite a let-down. :( The first thing I thought of upon seeing these was "Ben 10". Probably the main plus here is a (small) handful of new parts and existing parts in new colors. Some of the figures look nice, some seem they still need some work. Now we just wait for pictures of the sets. :D
EDIT: It seems gabriellee11 has actually posted some of the brick built figure pics a few minutes before this post. Apologies for any confusion caused, I didn't see that message at the time of this message's creation. :)

I never imagine there's someone who would pay $152 for two minifigures.legohunter wrote:Someone has already auctioned a pre-sale of exclusive 2011 SDCC Lego Comic Con Batman and Green Lantern minifigure at eXXy. According to the number of bids and bid price, it is hot. There are many die-hard fans..... :?

Why not? They have a fairly long history to draw from and a wide selection of characters that were members. Prior to the upcoming reboot you could say they were a cornerstone of the DC universe.lukeskywalker wrote:Let's not.

I don't think the prices have been released.
Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
Every new Batman minifig seems to be slightly different. usually in the utility belt area.
The new Poison Ivy looks great and the new Joker seems to have a different suit on. I'm wondering if they will make a new Bane, as the movie preview of the new Batman movie seems to show Bane with a mask that has lots of sharp teeth on it.
I'm a lil disappointed that the Catwoman minifig looks very much the same as the older one.

I have really been studying these figures lately and have come to a conclusion. The new Batman with the blue looks exactly like the one from Batman Brave and the Bold animated series. The other reason I think that is because the Joker looks the same as the BBTB as well. On Batman, compare the bat symbol and colors and on the Joker compare the smile, the face and the hair. Maybe we will have some BBTB sets next year?

Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
I think you might be right! Makes a lot of sense really. Coming out with a 'Brave and the Bold' subtheme that kids will be familiar with is a good way to lure in the youngsters (and their parents' wallets), while the more comic and movie-related themes will attract the older kids and AFOL's. Pretty smart move if you ask me!bouchj45 wrote:I have really been studying these figures lately and have come to a conclusion. Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
I heard somewhere that Lego would base designs on the Brave and the Bold, as Nolan's Bat-verse is a 'little' darker than normal kid's fare. Either way, WE'RE GETTING LEGO SUPERHEROES!
Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
no, i dont think the joker looks the same, i've got one in my hand right now and comparing it with the one om Alyvin's pic, his suit is still purple, but the shirt on the new one is plaid instead of the orange vest.
unless you mean complete change like the poison ivy.
i wonder what the first catwoman figure was based on... it would be cool if only the newer one would have some change in the utility belt area. hope those are only prototypes...
here's an image i found of the new batman movie catwoman of anne hathaway
i guess they decided to not change it, cause the original catwoman from the batman returns film actually had a more "patched together" outfit instead of this combat stealth looking one. and at least they didnt make a figure from the halle berry movie version. might be a disaster, but completely collectible.

That image looked suspiciously photoshopped, so I did some digging (not a lot) on the site that it was linked from - it's not official.wingtorn wrote:here's an image i found of the new batman movie catwoman of anne hathaway
Re: Lego gets DC Comics license!!!
Does anybody think we might get store exclusives that has figures that were not on the Comicon list? Maybe a GL?
