Re: 2011 LEGO Star Wars (Summer)
This set seems really junk. It looks like something LEGO pieced together with some figures and called it a Hoth set. The only thing that is consistent is the Bacta tank. What's up with those missiles and radar dishes? I don't ever remember seeing any of those things in the movies. They should make a huge ion cannon or a shield generator along with a huge hangar bay complete with display screens? Also the "snow" look is ridiculous. I am guessing those white small pillars are icicles that are hanging from the ceiling? Cmon now the whole base on Hoth looked like an underground cave with different pathways of tunnels all interconnected. This set just looks like any other space invader super station...

Yeah the set design is pretty amateurish at first glance, and not sure I really want a bright red protocol droid or a 75% naked Luke.

Re: 2011 LEGO Star Wars (Summer)
After looking at it for the second time, theres nothing really special about this set. Take out that healing tank and the figures and its nothing more than an Agents set. Whats with those missiles and radar dishes? A proton canon or a shield generator would be nice. Or are those 2 radar dishes suppose to replicate the shield generator? :?
Theres too many of the same stuff being recycled in this set. Speeder bike, snowtrooper blaster, tauntaun. The figures aren't too special either. Leia is just wearing a hoth rebel trooper outfit and Han Solo is wearing a different hat. Only new figures are R-3PO and that medical droid.

I agree with almost everything - except the part about the Taun Taun - it's good to get another one in another set, we've only gotten one so far.ThunderFighter wrote:Theres too many of the same stuff being recycled in this set. I think luke has some great MOC possibilities. Maybe wolverine being transformed with the weapon x treatment.ThunderFighter wrote: Theres too many of the same stuff being recycled in this set. nothing like the movie first of all it was underground and there were'nt big bulky lasers everywhere,i would get the set perhaps for the medical droid and then scrap the set for spare parts ;)

7879 Hoth Echo Base is $90 and exclusive to TRU. A very expensive kit. :(
Re: 2011 LEGO Star Wars (Summer)
Expensive indeed, for what you get. The minifigs are supposed to be the big draw, but they don't do anything for me. Half-naked Luke - don't really care about. Medical droid - okay, but too similar to what we already got in Palpatine's Shuttle. R3P0 - nice looking figure, but this has to be one of the most obscure minifigs in LSW. I didn't even know that the character existed until I saw this minifig. I can see big clearances in the future.

Found the falcon and frigate at the TRU in Denver today. Didn't buy them but my son was so excited to see them. Ok, I was too. Falcon was $149.99. Ouch.

I'm really not liking the hoth set. Feels very rushed and overpriced for what you get.
Bricks.
