Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
Are any of you guys excited about this? I'm more excited about this than the 'new' Death Star. I have a solid feeling its going to be around $600 or more. So it'll still be the most expensive set yet.

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
Hard to be excited for a set that will cost like two months rent... and one we have never seen.
Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
I'm hoping for more than just rumors like a set number, or photos, or possible release date.
IMHO TLG have dropped the ball on this one. Lepin are making a small fortune providing a "compatible" version to fulfill the needs/wants of the AFOL who can't or won't afford the original. TLG should have released the UCS Falcon last year instead of the lame duck DS copy.
That said, I've looked at the Lepin many, many time but just haven't pulled the trigger... yet. If the TLG don't come up with something soon or unrealistically price it... the Lepin will become irresistible.

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
That's a really good point. Lego really needs to do something about Lepin, so they're going to put out a set that deals with part of the problem. It's a win win for Lego. Not only are they pulling over the fans going for Lepin and they are also getting regular fans (who are not drawn toward Lepin). They're taking back their sales until their suit goes through against Lepin.rexx wrote:I'm hoping for more than just rumors like a set number, or photos, or possible release date.

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
I just bought the Falcon from Episode 8 for like $80. That will do fine with me.
My guess is the new Falcon might not even come out this year (The horrible Hoth set was rumored for years.) or that it will be pretty much an exact copy of the last one but cost $750 because they can.

$750! To put it cleanly, do you think Lego would be that bold? That's insanity. I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot poll.Brick & Blue wrote:I just bought the Falcon from Episode 8 for like $80. That will do fine with me.

They can do almost anything and I would hope that they learned their lesson from the UCS Hoth set. They should now know what they can and cannot get away with.

Do I think they will be that bold? Yes. Do I think they will actually charge that? Probably not. LEGO has been getting more and more bold with their pricing. The Death Star was released just to update the box and charge $100 more. LEGO used to give out coupons, that stopped. Used to give coupons on the yearly calendars, that ended. LEGO has been increasing the prices of the modulars $10 every two years, probably due to inflation, but now the next is $280, great price per brick, but I think it might set up for even higher price increases down the road.askthelegoguy wrote:Brick & Blue wrote: To put it cleanly, do you think Lego would be that bold?
The nice thing is that as LEGO has increased the price of the sets, more and more stores have LEGO on sale for longer periods of time and greater discounts. I mean even the Pet Shop went 20% off before being clearance.

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
I wasn't much of a LEGO fan or a Star Wars fan when the first one came around. Perhaps I can imagine buying one when this set comes out. Plus, the first UCS Millennium Falcon was probably my favorite Star Wars set to date, based on photos of it.
Look, you wake up one day, and your legs, they just give and you just can't run anymore.

Where are you living where rent is $300 a month?Brick & Blue wrote:Hard to be excited for a set that will cost like two months rent... and one we have never seen.
I have the original and don't plan to buy another one. it's hard to find a place display it.

I'll gladly display it if Lego Guy needs a break. ^
No. My rent was $235.
With my two roommates, plus $20-$50 for electricity. I was a dummie for moving away but had too. More so now so I can stay a resident of Massachusetts and keep my health care.

It would be nice if they include a Rathtar (or two) from Epi. 7 in the set.

I'd buy this for 750$.Brick & Blue wrote:I just bought the Falcon from Episode 8 for like $80. That will do fine with me.

The same way I'd buy Market Street, Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Taj Mahal, Grand Carrousel and Eiffel Tower (and probably more retired set) at 750$ too.
Rather give my money to LEGO than resellers.
Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
I think its time to resurrect this thread.
Lego has been teasing us with this for a very long time.
Some details: Biggest SW set ever. Announcement Sept. 1st. VIP Available Sept. 15th. Public Oct. 1st.
Here's hoping its not more than $500.

Old news my friend, old news. And I guarentee you it'll be more than $500, and I'll be pissed off when I see the outrageous price.rexx wrote:They let the rabbit out of the hat.

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
Death Star was 4,000 pieces and is $500.
Falcon has 7,500 pieces... not going to be $500, or $600. It's $700+
We will all be saying 'MF' when the set is revealed, but it won't stand for Millennium Falcon.

It's 8inches thick, by nearly 2 feet by 3 feet. Has 16 minifigures. The website this is from is Chinese and it cost when redone to USD is $1,275.
$1,000 price tag is increasingly likely.
My thoughts...

Re: Lego UCS Millennium Falcon 2017
There is no way it costs over $1,000. I know lego can be terrible and have outrageous prices, but it just cannot be that high. The price is going to be between $600-$700 it won't be any more. Keep in mind it has ~7,500 pieces. When you're paying 100s of dollars they're not going to screw you over with the price per piece.Brick & Blue wrote:

Death Star is $500 for 4000 pieces.
Old Falcon was $500 for 5200 pieces. (And with inflation would be $600 today.
Falcon is _____ for 7500 pieces.
So really, $1,000 is not out of the park insane like it should be. I'm thinking $750-$800 and hoping for $1,000. I'm never buying it at $500 or $1,000 so I want it to be $1,000 just to show that LEGO is not our friend like everyone on Eurobricks thinks, they are greedy pigs. :)
