LEGO Hobbit Sets & Pictures for 79015 79016 79017
August 13 Update: We've removed the images as per LEGO's request. These images apparently got leaked from the Mexican factory. They are not to be shared until October 15th, 2014 as per LEGO's agreement with their license owner.
These new Hobbit sets will be based on the new Hobbit The Battle of the Evil Armies movie, the third and final installment of The Hobbit. The movie will be released later this year on December 2 in the UK and December 17 in the USA. This means that the sets should be available sometime during October/November. From the pictures, what do you think of these sets?
#79015 LEGO Witch-King Battle
101 pieces, 3 minifigures
#79016 LEGO Attack on Lake-Town (this looks like an extension to the current 79013 Lake Town Chase set!)
313 pieces, 5 minifigures
#79017 LEGO The Battle of Five Armies
472 pieces

Am I the only one who is completely underwhelmed by this wave? The witchking set at least has 2 quality figs (3 if you don't have a 2nd age elrond). The battle of the five armies has a bunch of repeat figs. Looks like yet another legolas, a 3rd bard and another azog. The lake town one has at least one exclusive figure with Bain, but no Bolg? Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty dissapointed

There's also Lonely Mountain

At least Attack On Lake-Town has a different color. I stopped buying LOR & Hobbit sets because I got tired of all the grays.

The Lake Town set looks neat. I like the previous version a lot so putting those two side by side will be nice.
There's a typo in the first paragraph of the article: it says "Battle of Evil Armies" instead of "Five." Just so ya know!

I'm a tad underwhelmed with these but I'll probably get them regardless because...addiction. I'm most excited about Lonely Mountain and Witch-King Battle. I've been eager to see these so thank you for sharing.

The witch king battle looks pretty good, at least from a minifig standpoint... And the Elrond in the set looks to me to be different from the other two iterations...which would be really good. I like that the Attack on Lake Town seems to be a good addition to the Lake Town chase set. They should go together nicely although neither are very bulky sets and probably both could have been a little more impressive. Looks like another Bard just like the one in Lake Town Chase but Tauriel looks a little different to me... If this one is at the $30 price point though, I won't be complaining much... I'm somewhat disappointed with the look of the Battle of the 5 Armies--I was hoping for a glorified, giant battle pack that I would have to keep myself from buying multiples of when it went on sale--maybe it is lucky for me and my wallet that it looks more like a set I will only buy one of! You do get another eagle and the dwarf helmet in the bottom right looks pretty sweet. It is minifig heavy for the price point, I suppose...

I'm guessing the Elrond figure from 79015 is from the 5000202 poly that is a bit rare, goes for $15, so that's good. Pricing on these is decent. But they are just minifig packs plus an extension. I like them though, better value on these than the 79018 set. It's nice that the lake-town extension is only $30.
79017 is an expensive minifig pack, but that ballista looks great plus it's got a $10 eagle plus Azog.
Also big LOL to this:

TLG has net profit margins that are TRIPLE the other toy companies. I think they'll survive this horrible tragedy."We ask that if you still have the images, please delete them and refrain from sharing it with other people. Doing this would really help LEGO out during this crucial time."

I'll buy them, but then I've bought all the other LOTR/Hobbit sets. There's so many other characters they could of done, no need for repeats.
Re: LEGO Hobbit Sets & Pictures for 79015 79016 79017
My least favorite wave of LotR/Hobbit. I thought the Witchking would look like a nazgul, that's disappointing.

I really like the helmet of the dwarf beside Thorin.

Me too! He does a good job reviewing sets pointing out both pro's and con's. I also enjoy his builds. His zoo moc was really interesting.Brick & Blue wrote:Jangobricks is my favorite LEGO reviewer, I always watch his reviews before deciding on a "maybe" set.StClair wrote:Jangbricks (youtube user) has posted a review of LEGO Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies 79017
