Closer Look at LEGO City Arctic 2014 Sets

Post by Toys N Bricks » Fri Feb 14, 2014 8:30 pm

We've seen preliminary pictures from the German Toy Fair earlier and now, Kockamania.hu has posted the box images for the upcoming 2014 LEGO City Arctic sets. With a better segregation for the products, what do you think of these sets now? (via Brickset)

Too bad the huskies are not in one of the smaller sets. That's the only thing that interests me about these.

I love the theme, hate the price. Another $40 helicopter with 250 pieces? The mobile base looks so much better and is only $50, but still only 300-something pieces.

There is also a Arctic plane and boat, the boat looks just like the Coast Guard one. Really small pictures, I'll try to find the link.

But the theme looks great, very well designed, still fits in with the "City" theme but different. Just have to wait for the sales.

Wow. Star Wars pricing on City sets. I was looking forward to these.

The head/hood would be a great place to start with a Captain Cold custom :)

As for me as well.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

The box art is wonderful and really has an arctic feeling to it. I'm loving the animals, especially the dogs; too bad they're only in the 2 biggest sets (makes me wish there were still impulse-sized sets - "guy with dog and arctic campfire" would be awesome). I like how the minifigs seem to be doing science instead of fighting against crafty robbers or whatever (or maybe I'm not looking close enough). I like the parkas and snow gear; in recent years you can only find snow stuff in the winter village / advent sets. I'm not too thrilled about large orange vehicles, but I can see how it's a great parts pack for train moc'ers and the like. If I were going to buy city, I would be happy with this theme. (I'm more of a castle/pirates/modular guy with no free time these days.)

I was excited when I first heard of the subtheme. When pics started to surface, I wasn't so excited. These are okay, but I guess I'm more into actiony themes. Not so much into the city/creator. I may pick up the smallest two sets on a whim someday.

For those who haven't seen them, Here are picture with the new Ice Breaker and Artic Cargo Plane. It looks like there's also an other outpost/remote station.

The urban theme looks fantastic.
