You could use public transportation. According to the Metro trip planner, it would only cost $12.65 and take just over 4 hours.
SoCal is well known for its (terrible) public transportation system!

it's not very profitable if it's just a few sets you're parting out, but I good way get some money, while getting rid of parts or minifigures that you don't need.
