Didn't feel like staying up all night for the sale to activate, so I missed out on getting more modulars. Congrats to those who got some!

Nice. I had $15 in gift cards as well, so I got the X-wing for about $30 including tax. Thanks for this tip on the Visa coupon! Also, I used RewardsRunner, so that should remove another 4.5% or so from the total cost.

@wei11364 you raise good points. For me, I only buy sets I really like or sets I think will go up in value in the near term. Sets I don't love that are on sale don't do much for me, unless I just want to part them out.

Very cool deal. Wondering if I should order more for the minifigs alone. Waiting for them to discount the x-wing further.

@intromission I don't think Slave 1 will produce that great of a return very quickly. It is the 3rd version of that ship that LEGO produced (plus Jango's version.) You can still find it for retail in plenty of stores too. It's a good set, and buying nearly ANYTHING at 50% off or greater will produce...

I had a surprising find at Target tonight: 4 of the holiday LEGO gift card sets. They were in a wagon that an employee was using to restock the shelves. Very random. My local Wal-Mart had the Podracers set at 30% off, some red boxed Ninjago stuff at 50% and the Star Wars Advent Calendar at 50%. I passed on all of these. Photos:

Checking out my local Wal-mart later this morning. I do not have high hopes though, it is usually VERY low on stock and picked over, even during non-sales time periods. THanks for the heads up though!

I stopped by Target and managed to grab the last Funhouse Escape Super Heroes set. They had a bunch of Batcaves too, but with a $20 markup in price to $90. I took 17 photos capturing the various price increases that Toys R Us adds to sets:
