Re: VIP points - expire or not??
They sent me an email reminder saying some of my points were expiring at the end of this year, so yes. I don't know what the time period is though.

Re: LEGO City 2014 Set Pictures
Kids must really like their police sets.
I like the race track. It reminds me a bit of this oldie that I had as a kid. It could be more detailed though.

Re: lego investing ?? LOLOL wet blanket from old geezer
yes I agree the stock market is not good right now but then it has definitely recovered since the most recent USA prez took office, when it tanked. I started buying shares in 500 in early 90s at around 45/50 share, now the share price is 150 or so. It's not really possible to trade in/out mutual fu...

Re: lego investing ?? LOLOL wet blanket from old geezer
as for mutual fund tips, I started back in the early 90s & picked my 2 favorites on a few criteria like low turnover rate (otherwise the mgr is just playing trends), low admin fees, rate of return, size plus some bond funds for balance. The 2 m-f's I picked VG 500 index & Dodge Cox stock fu...

Re: lego investing ?? LOLOL wet blanket from old geezer
I see my Lego "investment" as a hobby that pretty much sustains itself. I keep an eye on what I've spent vs. what I've sold to determine how much it's costing me. At any given moment, I can sell a few of my larger sets and I will be at a break even point. If you have any mutual fund tips, ...

Those are some awesome pics Vynsane! I recently got a new lens - the Sigma 18-250mm, which is supposed to have some macro features. I haven't had time to play around with it too much, but I'll see if I can get some pics up.

It seems like a cool history on minifigures. I'll pick one up at some point when it falls below $20.

Re: Kmart 50% off Clearance 9-29 thru 10-5
Only saw 3 sets on clearance at the one in Salem, NH. I found the helms deep set for $62, saesee tinn set for $14, and the hulk break out for $23.50. Somebody had stolen the Hulk, Thor, and the small bag of parts from that bag 3 from the breakout set though so I asked for a discount. They ended up s...

Re: Selling Platform
I love purchasing from brinklink but selling looks as though it would be very confusing at first. Selling on Bricklink isn't bad at all. I've sold a number of things there too and have had a great experience. One of the advantages to Bricklink is the low commission. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the...

Re: Selling Platform
I have actually sold most of my sets on Amazon. Just don't bother selling used sets there because the buyers never read the descriptions. I've had to do partial refunds a couple of times due to people not reading the description. I find that I get more money there versus ebay and I don't have to wor...

I must have missed the Amazon price. It's back up to $13.99. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5ARKDE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00B5ARKDE&linkCode=as2&tag=tonbr-20" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; edit: Doh, I think...

Re: Contemplating Mr. Gold
I would be very surprised to see anybody here obtain one. You know what would be great? Mr. Gold ends up in the hands of a little kid and he/she doesn't even know what it's worth. 10 years from now when that little kid enters his/her "dark age", the Lego collection is sold at a yard sale a...

Re: any sites to get contents lists
Hmm, if there is, I haven't come across one. Usually I search the reviews on forums since people tend to take "unboxing" pictures showing all the contents. I did a quick google search and nothing came up though. Maybe search through MOCpages or Flickr to see if somebody has pictures of the...

Re: TRU Friends Event March 23rd
What is the youngest reasonable age for these and the lego store events? My son is nearly 2 and I figured I would start taking him when he's 3 or so. I think both the TRU and LEGO Store Mini Model Build say 5 and up. That being said, and YMMV, they may give the items to 3+, I think 2 is pushing it ...

Re: Least crowded time at Lego KidsFest?
I went on the second day and there were tons of people everywhere. If you can, hold off to before closing time. It seems the kids get tired from being there so long that the parents take them home. This leaves the stations free for the adults to play

Don't forget Legolas too. He was only available in the mine set wasn't he? The Walmart by me had a bunch of Shelob sets for $9. I hope I don't regret not buying them :)

Re: LEGO Contest Discussion Topic
Just a thought, and I hope I'm not angering anybody, but can you guys make the contests only available to members who have joined at least three months ago? Most of the entries for the current contest are from people that joined in March and have less than 5 posts. It seems that people come out of t...
