Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
I have already mentioned that I loathe WM, and one of the primary reasons.why is that they treat their employees like utter garbage. I'm not.making excuses but I instinctively want to defend them. Blame the company for being.too miserly to.provide any training or incentive. Miserable people overwork...

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
Just left a store a bit out of the way, talked the manager into half off the last QAR (tape on the side, but heavy and not too bashed up). They had a bunch of Whitecap at $54, I'll keep an eye on that. But BP was still at retail on the main aisle, other stuff was jammed into the clearance aisle. I'v...

Re: [USA] Wal-Mart Clearance
This might be semi-off-topic, but does anyone expect Target to give up the goods like the other big box stores have been doing? I really really deeply and truly hate going to WM... Yesterday, after embarrassing begging and pleading, the wife finally consented to going to WM for the first time in ove...

Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
That shames my find. $100 for about 25 lbs, lots of minifigs (or minifig pieces!), but also 2-3 lbs of MegaBlechs. 20 instruction books though, which was cool, a couple SW ships and Space Police already built. My first success on CL, so I'm not complaining...

Re: Why Barnes and Noble?
Why B&N? Why Toysnbricks? Because the two together showed me how to get Destiny's Bounty for 40% off! Thanks to all the above posters. As a side note, they still had a bunch of AC, PQ, and Atlantis. I asked at both stores (found the set I bought at the second one, so glad I made the drive!) if t...

Re: LEGO Store Grand Opening Celebrations (TN, NY, BC, WI)
How does one go about volunteering? Can anybody explain or provide a link? Did it seem fully staffed to you, Iccarus? Does it seem more like "we could use a few more hands here" or "sorry folks, we're all full up with volunteers"?

Re: LEGO Store Grand Opening Celebrations (TN, NY, BC, WI)
[quote="meyerc13" [/quote] Thanks for that detailed info! Eases my mind a little bit, though I'm sure I won't be getting any sleep the Friday night before opening anyway, so I might as well go super early! I still think the uncharacteristic chaos of the Vancouver opening had a lot to do wi...

Re: LEGO Store Grand Opening Celebrations (TN, NY, BC, WI)
Do you think the Vancouver opening was so much more chaotic because it was also Star Wars weekend? Adding up the factors--new R2D2 set, super size R2D2 build, chrome minifig, poster, brick, plus grand opening giveaways...? It seems like the Nashville opening was a bit tamer.

Re: Hasbro KRE-o gets Star Trek license
Kreos > MegaBlocks but still not equal to Lego. I have a few Transformers (which, paradoxically, do not transform) and they're a fair product. Some issues with poor design (i.e. this piece gets in the way of that piece, this piece falls off every time I do that, etc) but that's to be expected with a...

Re: Ninjago or Ninjano - Investors Discussion
^Thanks for that. One question: where does the certainty come from that this summer's release of spinners is going to be extremely limited, whether in sheer numerical availability or production time? Or am I misreading something...?

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
I want to get to the point where I've got all the sets I want to keep forever, which I realistically--seriously!!--estimate to be around 30 or 40, and then begin an arbitrary cycle of buy, build, debuild, sell, repeat. Because for me, I really love to build the sets and learn new ways to use old pie...

Re: Investing in Lego
I just wanted to bump this thread back to life, now that several months have passed since the spate of holiday discontinuations. IF and EN, I'm looking at you!! I, of course, totally missed out on everything, but I wanted to see if anyone cared to share a "revised" 2012 outlook. Harry Pott...

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
Excellent array offered in this thread. I find pieces of my own thinking scattered here and there. I was a poor kid too, wanted more Lego than I ever actually had, and up until last Christmas, I really thought Lego was just some houses and Star Wars ships. My wife bought our 6 yr old son some sets, ...

Re: Ninjago or Ninjano - Investors Discussion
mind=blown That is so persuasive and informative that I could very well suspect you of being an agent provocateur hired by Lego to beguile the undecided! I joke, of course. I still can't quite make the leap, not least because of my laughably limited funds, but it is ample food for thought. I saw Sk...
