Re: Bricktober 500 TRU Event
Well I was at my local stores Bricktober 500 event and had a car built (Racer X) with a bunch of bricks on (less then a PAB cups worth), but on the other hand I was running the event and the car was for the early kids to race, unfortunately we ran out of the base vehicle supplies so I cannibalised p...

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
where is YOUR proof? nuff said. here is my proof (you remember this pic you so fortuitously showed): http://www.majhost.com/gallery/asterios/Workarea/image.jpg the pic shows LEGO 's wholesale price and you compare said price to USA retail and it is not even 10% more, unless your saying LEGO charges...

Re: If Lego closed its doors . . .
The problem is once the market dried up people would hold onto their LEGO or do a massive sell off since the hobby is no longer supported, sealed collector sets like HP and SW and unsealed sets of same will go up while the basic brick and pieces will not. Once again -- if supply goes down, prices g...

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
and I told you go ask, your under the assumption all countries are like the USA they are not they have import fees and VAT taxs which the USA has none, you haven't shown any evidence to prove other wise, you showed us what LEGO's base price for a set was and the USA avg. mark up is only 10% of that ...

Not flaming, just trying to educate a child in his teens and has no clue about Import duties or VAT.

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
Do you pay like $20,000 a barrel of oil or something? I guess it's time to save up the plastic bags from grocery stores, not becoz I care about the environment but becoz they are expensive. :D Vat is value added tax. Retailers pay tax on profit and is called corp tax. Vat is a form of consumption t...

bionicle = 38%. btw, someone flunked economics at school. import tax is high, so margin is higher. umm... i don't see the logic in that. let me spell it out for you. retailers buy from lego for the retailer's price (or...

Well then please enlighten us why Canada whos dollar is almost on par with the US is paying $30 more then the US, oh wait could it be what I said? and that their mark up is so high because they have to pay import taxes unlike the US?

heres the pic of his item SRP = Standard Retail Price: http://www.majhost.com/gallery/asterios/Workarea/image.jpg alot of people complain how LEGO prices are higher in non-US countries, this is due to Duty taxs being paid for product shipped into the country which they pass along to the end-consumer...

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
ok lets say its 38% like some think, and you say it can't be like 15-20% off cause sales prices are lower then that, it seems alot of you forget that stores even like TRU have sales on items which reduce the price below 50% quite regularly, then shall we talk about clearance items? and so forth not ...

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
LEGO's discount to companies and stores is on the low end from 10-20% off. How can TRU have these buy 2 get 1 free sales then or walmart selling many of their sets way below retail if the discount lego offer to them is 10-20% off? That amount seems too small. Retailers will not make any profit at a...

Re: How much does TRU, Walmart, Target pay for their Lego?
I'm a bit curious and would like to know how much the big retailers gets their Lego for? I heard if you are a small toy business or store, you get Lego for 30% off msrp. So lets say your TRU, do you get Lego for something like 50-60% off msrp or do they get a even bigger discount than that? neither...

Re: If Lego closed its doors . . .
Its hard to say since the value of LEGO is kept high because of the influx of new products and such and if they closed it would kill the market for builders and such and only retain some value for collectors, but lets be realistic, its the builders who keep values up, not collectors (except for lice...
