Re: LEGO Black Friday 2013 VIP Early Access (USA & Canada)

Reminds me of May the 4th... I did not have the time to keep checking for deals. Every time I went to the site, the B-Wing was sold out but apparently went back in stock when I had other things to do. Ugh

Re: USA Toys R Us LEGO Sale - 38% off TMNT Baxter Robot Ramp

2 of my local TRU's did not have the little flags showing they were marked down, but they still were; I just had to get a price check. One of them also had all the new Hobbit sets on the sales floor but when I went to check out, they could not sell it to me. Supposedly they could not sell it until D...

Re: VIP Exclusive Holiday Shopping Event 2013

I have been a VIP for a good 4 years and this is my first invitation. Mine is set for the Gurnee Mills store in Illinois, but there is 1 other Lego store that is closer by over 10 miles and another that is quicker traffic-wise. Strange how I never even been to the Gurnee Mills store before and yet t...

I am with the majority vote on this one... these sets are not all that great. The minifigures are kinda cool but not enough for me to buy any of the sets. As someone else said, interesting but lame. Thank goodness for Bricklink!

Re: [TRU] In-store and on-line 15% off and other offers

Gotta love TRU - I went to get some Galaxy Squad stuff and find that some items have such a high markup that 15% off still doesn't help. Or the list price is so high that they mark it at a 'deal' to MSRP invalidating the sale. Some items are taken down from the website so you cannot even buy them. I...

Yes! I can save 2 cents through Amazon if I act right now! Haha. In all seriousness thank you, was not sure when those would find their way onto Amazon

Re: Lego Minifigure Series 11, some pics found...

They all look great to me. Series 10 was just kind of 'ok' to me. I love the Blacktron mech; Blacktrons (and space) are my favorite and I plan on getting many of these. Like 50+. Yes, I am that crazy

Re: Creator Expert 10235 Winter Village Market

I was actually going to go into detail saying how I am a machinist, do 3D and pad printing, fabricating of metal, plastic and rubber parts along with other work in that area but I will simply say I have experience in the field and part of my job is creating objects from raw materials. Minifigures ar...

Re: Creator Expert 10235 Winter Village Market

Piece count is not always the best way to associate the value of a set. It only works if the set looks to have a good assortment of both large and small parts. While this does have over 1200 pieces, it has a ton of small parts, including lots of parts 2x2 and smaller. I see so many 1x1 plates my hea...

Re: 63 year old AFOL denied entry into Legoland at Vaughan M

One thing I just realized, Legolands and LDC's (Lego Discovery Center) are different. LDC's are much more of a short tour with groups herded through and Legolands are more of a theme park. It sounds like the 63 yr old went to an LDC. Both places could have security risks, but what entertainment plac...

Re: 63 year old AFOL denied entry into Legoland at Vaughan M

I was about to say that I 'suppose' I could understand the rule at Legoland and keeping kids safe and all, but then someone made the analogy about Disney and if the same thing applied there. Places like that, (circuses, specialty theme parks, etc etc) simply would not be in business if they made eve...

Re: [USA] Target Clearance Finds

My local Target (Crystal Lake, IL) rarely has good deals on Lego. I did see an Uruk Hai army set for about 15% off. New items were all full price (was hoping for the castle sets) and only a few seemingly random items were marked down. Mines of Moria was also about 15% off. In fact the few things I d...

Re: [REVIEW]: 10211 Grand Emporium

I actually like that the minifigure faces are simple like the classics from the 80's. Maybe it is because I grew up with minifigures like this. Or perhaps, I like it because you do not need fancy minifigs to make an awesome set. Too many times I see a garbage set that looks like an 8 year old threw ...

Re: Too Much of a Good (Great) Thing?

I have a fair amount of disposable cash and while much of it does go to Lego, I still have to pick and choose what I buy. I have always loved Space and Castle themes and somewhat interested in Star Wars and a few other themes. Some stuff like LotR/Ninjago can sort of mix with Castle and Star Wars wi...

Re: Cleaning sets

There is a process to de-yellow old Lego parts which I have done quite a few times. But if a simple cleaning is needed I use soapy, hot water and a soft rectangular dish sponge. For hard to reach areas I use a soft bristle toothbrush. Anything more stiff could scratch the part but soft bristle tooth...

Re: Lego QC

I have had numerous times I thought a part or two was missing but it turned out to be stuck in the bag or fell onto the floor. However, a few times a part was actually missing. Usually a small one, but it does not happen often. I have heard of some sets like some of the modular city sets that have h...

Re: Too old for Lego?

I am 37 and I grew up with Legos and have had various geeky hobbies throughout my life. From a huge comic book collection, Star Wars stuff to Gundam model kits, to video games. I think when I got to high school (1990) I dropped Lego due to the idea of being picked on. I was a runt back then and did ...
