Re: [Giveaway] The LEGO Movie Polybags

It is a tough one because all have something fun and unique to offer, but the one I keep coming back to is the ice cream truck. When things are good, it dispenses delicious cones...when things go bad, imagine the brain freeze that giant cone-ray could deliver!

Re: [Entries] Winter 2013: Minifig Holiday Traditions Vignet

A Star Wars Christmas Carol! Who better than protocol droid C3PO to guide Darth on a tour of Christmases past, present and future in an attempt to cause him to mend his ways and change his future? We see young Anakin in simpler times enjoying Christmas with his mom in Christmas past. In Christmas pr...

Re: Target extra 10% off Dec 21-22 in-store only

how does it work, one per item, or whole order? Any limit on order amount? How will they keep track how many times you use it? I'll probably do a massive grocery trip this weekend =) I'm pretty sure it's endless for those two days. Per the article: The offer is limited to one in-store transaction p...

LEGO Movie Minifig Series at TRU

I found a box of the newest minifigs in the regular LEGO aisle (not at customer service as is the norm). They were selling for $2.99 each, and pretty picked over. They also still had plenty of the last series available near the stocking-stuffer section of the store for $3.19 each.

Horizon Express at West Covina, CA Walmart

I stopped by the above mentioned Walmart and found a Horizon Express in a clearance end-cap. It was not marked, apart from a penned slash through the UPC code. The scanner directed me to customer service. After having them call various people to determine the markdown, they arrived at 10%. Perhaps s...

Re: May the 4th be with you (2013)

I managed to pile the kids into the car and hit a local TRU for the build at about 12:30-ish today. Like most of these things at TRU, it was poorly run. Just a bunch of parts separated by type in cardboard "bins". After grabbing an instruction sheet, we were given the opportunity to fill u...

Re: [REVIEW]: 4440 Forest Police Station

I am with you there, I just wondered if you felt it was even worth that...perhaps you'd be okay paying $64, but you felt given the types of pieces, etc., that you would not budge until it was below $50...

The site is offering a wide range of stuff, from Brickmaster "books" to t-shirts, minifig displays, storage, etc. You will probably have to join the site to view the deals and buy. Here is the link: http://www.zulily.com/e/lego-collection-041813.html?pos=0" onclick="window.open(t...

Re: [REVIEW]: 4440 Forest Police Station

Nice review...thanks. For some reason, this set keeps on popping up in my head as something to get, even though I am not terribly passionate about the City stuff. Now that you have it, what do you think the "sweet spot" is price-wise for this set considering all of the other attractive opt...

Re: Too Much of a Good (Great) Thing?

I agree with all of the posts on this subject: I pick and choose among the items I really like, try my best to get what I want on sale or take advantage of double VIP points to reduce the cost of sets. Part of where I was headed with the original post was whether people felt LEGO has now exceeded th...

Re: Lego Pet Shop... Time to buy?

I was at a Lego store yesterday (So. Cal (Costa Mesa)) and spoke to the manager there re retirement of modulars. His take was somewhat different, and did not adhere to the first-in / first-out retirement plan. His sense was that it would be based on what sells overall, and he was further guided by t...

For those interested, I thought that this BusinessWeek article was a pretty interesting read regarding how the deal was closed. At the very least, it would seem that Disney knows what it is doing and will offer the films the best chance for success. Ahem....and this time with the link! http:...

If you have the space, building a layout with both is epic. Both themes work so well together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chW4B2mAT7U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That is just outstanding...nice work! It looks so idyllic (apart from the haunted house, of course) that...

Re: Too Much of a Good (Great) Thing?

Your question could almost be boiled down to "does Lego have too many concurrent themes?" I think the answer to that is "yeah sort of, but it seems to be working for them!" I suspect their tactics are working because they're hitting a nice variety of customers. At the same time,...
