It's small. It's fast. It's armed to the teeth. What more could you need?

It's about 70 pieces (plus another 10 for the support). I think that it's the first time I have ever used a screwdriver as something other than a screwdriver.

Happy to hear that it was just an April fool's joke. While this site isn't all that busy I'd miss it if it was gone.

Just got the notification today by email... Note that the end date on the email that I received was March 30, not March 31.

I'd guess that it's two letters followed by Bricks.com

Re: $30 Creative Box 1500 pieces Walmart Black Friday 2016

I'm surprised to see that they have the same big box of bricks again this year. That'll reduce my Black Friday spending.

It looks like there are also some half-price-ish Dimensions packs for those that are interested:

Re: how many LEGO Stores have you been to?

I was away for a quick business trip last week, and managed to add 5 more stores to my list in the process. That, combined with two of the stores that I have visited in Toronto over the last year have me up to 27 now. The next one I visit will probably be Southgate Centre in Edmonton as I expect to ...

Re: Custom Lego Table Baseplate Layout

A couple of thoughts: Do you really need to use oak plywood if the entire top of the table is going to be covered in baseplates? If money is no object, then go ahead, but if the top of the table is always going to be covered in baseplates I'd choose a less expensive material for the top. I have had ...

Re: LEGO Building table inspiration

My Lego building table is 40 inches by 80 inches so it accommodates 4 32x32 baseplates by 8 32x32 baseplates nicely. The table top is a piece of 5/8 inch birch plywood that I had cut to size at Rona where I bought it (Rona is a store like Lowes or Home Depot and getting them to cut it with their pan...

Re: Calgary's New Central Library (approx. 100,000 pieces)

I didn't really do any computer-based modelling before I started building. I started with concept art drawings that were provided to me. From there, I took measurements from the drawings (typically in a paint program so I could get something accurate to a pixel) to determine how wide, deep and tall ...

Yes, the white lines on the windows were done with stickers. I'm happy to say that someone else was responsible for working out the pattern for them and applying all 660 of them to the window panes. I just had to insert them into the frames in the correct order.

Calgary's New Central Library (approx. 100,000 pieces)

For the past 15 months I have been working on a model of Calgary's New Central Library. The model is huge -- 288 studs wide, 128 studs deep, 66 bricks tall and approximately 100,000 pieces. The interior of the building is populated with books, chairs, computers, tables, and a cafe. Over 330 minifigs...

Re: Lego store PAB clearance 80% off

The explanation that my local store manager gave me when I went back and picked up 3 more cases this morning was that the elements that were included were ones that had been sitting in their stock room forever. Whatever the reason I'm just happy to be picking up PAB at $25 a case (Canadian pricing, ...

Obviously the number of bricks in a box depends on the size and shape of the brick. I have previously counted boxes of 2x4 bricks at around 660.

Re: Lego store PAB clearance 80% off

Despite what others have posted, the store in Calgary Canada is participating in the sale. I picked up 5 cases this morning at $25 each (in addition to what I actually went in to buy). Here's a picture of what they had before I made my purchases. IMAG0147.jpg I'm not sure whether I was buying the la...

Re: how many LEGO Stores have you been to?

I used to travel quite a bit for work, and I usually managed to get to the Lego store when I was in a new city (especially when the Canadian dollar was of similar value to the US dollar and Lego looked really cheap in the US). I'm not travelling as much as I was, and the Canadian dollar is worth a f...
