 Thumbs up to LEGO for doing this! Can't wait. Looks like there are many SNOT elements in the Cafe Corner, Grand Emporium, and Market Street.

EDIT: For future modular buildings, do you think LEGO will release a mini model along with it, just so we can expand our mini modular town?

Wow this is a really cool set, definitely on the "must have list". I really think it's a neat tribute to the modular buildings.

So I guess this may be the only way for me to own Market Street, Cafe Corner and Green Grocer! Although I kinda wished they sold them separately. Kinda takes away from the whole modular feeling if it all comes in one set. Having said that, the prospects of future mini modulars is very high!

I wonder how they can control this to limiting to only VIP members... but this is truly a sweet set....

Seems like a very odd set to me, I don't understand why they are doing this, or pricing it so high. Definitely cute, but seems more like it should just be a series of promotional polybags, not a $70 set. Oh well, glad LEGO is continuing to try new things.

it's neat, but not worth that much money, maybe 30 bucks, it's a lot of pieces but they are all small ones

This set is awesome. 1356 pieces for $70 is extremely good.... Especially considering a lot of the pieces in this set can be used to make other bigger modular mods with all the flat pieces and slopes and such. I'm glad I can get it all in one shot rather then them bleeding me for $20-$30 for each mini modular. Get it on discount and it becomes and extremely good parts pack.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

It's a great set period. At six cents a piece it's in the "must buy" range for me.

I am pump up and excited to get this set. nothing like a mini fix for me on the first 2 modular sets that I miss. Its kinda cute as well looking at it. In my collection I have the green grocer which I bought last year. And the Fire Brigade that I got from Toys r us this year for a good price $105.00

Awesome move, Lego!

At first glance I was digging this set....then as I climb into the details and look closely at them I am now on the fence and will have to wait to see it. Granted 1300+ for 70$ seems like a no brainer, but this is REALLY small. Each building is on an 8x8 plate and most only use about 5 studs deep. People will prob bash me, but perhaps only because the somewhat harder to find colors I wouldn't put this much over a 50$ set. A lot of people like to talk about the price per piece, but it looks like 80% of this set is 1x1/1x2 plates and tiles. Granted I will still probably buy it, so apparantly Lego hasn't priced it way too high, I just do not think it is as an attractive value as most think.

Pumbaugh was right on the 5 studs deep, should at least go deeper. The colors is probably one of the few pros on this set. $80 is still high but I am guessing there will be buyers for this set, including myself. The right price should be around $49 or $59. Wegj was right about $30 for this set but I dont think Lego will go that low on the price. They do want to take a bigger profit.

Lego for life!

I'll pay the $80 as sanity insurance - if I've got a little version, I'm less likely to go nuts and talk myself into $600+ for a retired modular.

I love it. :-D
Though I'm not too happy about $80, I'll try to wait for free shipping or some other promotion to maximize my savings.

You can either get a card in-store (you must register it on-line after) or if you make a purchase on-line, you can also apply.

From the lego.com site:
Here are the ways you can sign up!
1. Check the ‘Join VIP Program’ box when shopping on shop.LEGO.com – we’ll send you a card.
This is the fastest process as you are not required to register following sign up.

2. Pick up a card at a LEGO Store. See the 'Stores' tab for Store Locations.

Please note that for Store sign ups, you will need to create a LEGO ID and return here to register your details once you have your card.
