Great! It would be fantastic if they had made it 3 separate buildings on 3 separate base plates.

Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
The price is outrageous and the set isn't even that well made. It's just, weird and kind of blah.
Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
The price is crazy.
Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
Ridiculous price.
I bet Assembly Square will be for sale at the Lego Discovery Center in Assembly Square (for us in Boston, I had to go there). :P

Nice.
LOL. Would that be in Somerville? At current exchange rate, I think buying in Canada may work out better.ivyhedge wrote: I bet Assembly Square will be for sale at the Lego Discovery Center in Assembly Square (for us in Boston, I had to go there). :P

I love it! There may be almost TOO much going on, but considering it's three "separate" buildings I think it'll work. I don't find the price insane, it's definitely steep but seems to be worth it. The only thing I would change is perhaps make it a corner one which would work well with the three buildings, but I suppose the bank was just a corner so that isn't necessary.

Good to see a more accurate value of a 4000 piece set that doesn't have licensing involved...

Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
I love it! I don't think the price is too bad considering it has over 4,000 pieces. The only thing that bothers me a little is that it's wider than a standard modular. And the reason it bugs me is that I had planned to make a display of all of them together in a square (four corner modulars and eight straight) and now that won't work.(see below)

Yeah it is. With the Canadian dollar a ton of sets are actually better off being bought there.ivyhedge wrote:Ridiculous price.
My main problem with the price is it will be used as a test and a cover. LEGO cult members... I mean fans, will buy the set up, LEGO will see "Great our fans are so dumb we can really screw them over" and that the 2018 set will have less than 2000 pieces and be $190-$200.
Thankfully we will always have Lepin.
I find the set too be too much about the older sets that it feels like they are just redone scaled down versions. I don't care about it being 10 years. I care about new colors and pieces and there aren't that many really useful ones. (Besides corner SNOT piece)
Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
It looks great, though I'm disappointed they didn't break up the buildings into distinct baseplates.
Yeah, I thought of that, too. You could add a 16-wide plate with some garden/playground build or something to make up the difference. Or MOC up a clone of one of the Pet Shop buildings in a different color.Brickbuilder0937 wrote:The only thing that bothers me a little is that it's wider than a standard modular. I'd just like to point of why the price is ridiculous.
It's 170 Pounds. Correctly that's currently almost $209.
It's 330 CAD, which is $252.
I don't see the UK or CAD rebounding a hell of a lot in the next little bit. That means the set will be cheaper to go to Canada for.

Or this may be a good time trying to blend in your haunted house into your modular layout.vynsane wrote:It looks great, though I'm disappointed they didn't break up the buildings into distinct baseplates.

If you buy in Canada you'll need to factor in provincial and federal sales tax.Brick & Blue wrote:I'd just like to point of why the price is ridiculous.

Federal Tax (GST) is 5%
Provincial Tax (PST) varies by province but in BC that's another 7%
Some provinces like ON have a Harmonized Tax (HST) in place of PST & GST and that's at least 13%
So once you factor in say 12% Tax, the U.S. conversion works out to $285 and that $5 more than the U.S. msrp.
As a Canadian I have ways to buy in the U.S. and never pay U.S. or Canadian Taxes but I don't think that you could do the same. All Canadian retailers charge tax on online purchases wear as in the U.S. there's often no tax on online purchases.

Yes there is in most states now, any state with a LEGO Store has to pay online taxes, even Amazon now has taxes on everything in most states. Taxes in states go from 0% to 12%. Taxes don't factor into the price of a set unless it's a Euro price because their taxes are really confusing.
But I lived in NY state, the tax rate I think was 8.25% on LEGO, that brings the price up to $303.
Even with Canadian taxes at 13% with the current exchange rate the price would be $284 which is still $20 cheaper.
Re: 10255 Assembly Square LEGO Modular Building Official Pre
I agree. The price is over the top. They should've made it no more than $225. If they had to, lower the piece count.

I got the set. It is pretty nice, but I think you're right about the price. It has 4,002 pieces, so in terms of price per piece its amazing. But I think around 500 of the pieces were flat or tile 1x1. I don't really want to pay 10 cents for a flat 1x1.slacker wrote:I agree. The price is over the top.
