Re: LEGO 2013 Modular Building (10232 Palace Cinema)
This topic has been super-quiet as of late... I heard looking through some other blogs that some folks in Singapore had gotten a sneak-peek. Do we have any more details that anyone can confirm or speculate? I'm getting a little anxious, as the 2013 City lines are pretty underwhelming... :( I need to see some awesomeness in the new Creator Expert brand (Horizon Express nothwithstanding).
Re: LEGO 2013 Modular Building (10232 Palace Cinema)
In the 1930s - Big City Cinemas would have spot lights on opening night of a film with a famous actors and actresses appearing on a red carpet. A Hollywood Reporter would be there to interview them and a photographer would take a photo of the Film director smiling with the main stars of the film. A small town cinema wouldn't have any of that - just a long row of ordinary people in line to get their ticket from the ticket booth - and maybe some kids trying to sneak in from the back door.
Re: LEGO 2013 Modular Building (10232 Palace Cinema)
Well over the christmas holiday I was able to see a picture of the next Modular Building Palace Cinema.
Here are things I can tell you
It's a corner Building
with 2 floors and a roof
it comes with a limousine
its a Chinese stile theater
it comes with at least six Minifigures
it has search lights which can be placed on the sidewalk
the overall colour is tan and light brown. roof is a mix of 1x1 round tiles in red and dark red!
the sign that says "Cinema" is blue with white writing that says Cinema there are also lots of 1x1 round tiles on the front of the sign in yellow to show lights.
the Limousine is black and open like a convertible
the sidewalk is very detailed!
if I can think of more I will add it here!
and a picture as well!

I envisioned an Art Deco theater, but the Grauman Chinese Theater design is not what I expected at all! What a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to see the interior photos.grogall wrote:Well over the christmas holiday I was able to see a picture of the next Modular Building Palace Cinema.

I like the variety of colors and I really like the roof design. :) I do wonder how many stickers are used in this set (maybe just the movie posters and "now showing" sign?)
Re: LEGO 2013 Modular Building (10232 Palace Cinema)
Agree, and maybe this will be my second modular I will be getting after the Haunted house.typo wrote:Absolutely Speechless...

I am going broke already, damnn my wish list for 2013 is already full and I don't even have the 2012 ones in place, the cinema looks great, I wonder why they went with a Chinese style roofing?
Re: LEGO 2013 Modular Building (10232 Palace Cinema)
First the news that Castle theme will be returning and now this. Awesome! Simply Awesome!
As a side note, I wonder what this means for GE... It would have been EOL following the pre-FB cycle but post FB, who knows that will happen. Would TLG carry two corner modulars? I'd be interested to see how they handle this.

It looks really cool, as with all the modulars, but I'm having a hard enough time affording the themes that really interest me, let alone finding the space in my house for them! I'm both sad and glad that I never really got into this theme.

Outstanding. My speculation: The Grand Emporium will surely discontinue sometime in 2013. Palace Cinema, Town Hall, and Pet Shop will be the line up. (The Haunted House is an outlier and really MF.)
We would still need a second corner set and middle building to have a mini-modulars 2.

*Shakes fist at LEGO*
LEGO is forcing me to not buy sets now. Too much good stuff. I can't afford to keep up. I will get all the modulars, including Arkham and Haunted House. I now need to trim out some 2013 sets I planned to get.

Hopefully this one will be closer to $150 than $200 like Town Hall.

Ditto, still waiting for it to drop a little more before I get TH. But this cinema is absolutely beautiful.strezz_dout wrote:Hopefully this one will be closer to $150 than $200 like Town Hall.

Awesome. The outlooking is better than Town Hall.
Thx the retailers that boxing day deal wasn't good at all, so my money could go to CM9, Arkham and this Theatre. There were too many sets released every year, it is time to focus on something that is good indeed or I will be very sorry to my bank account.

yess! a corner one
town hall has been perpetually 180 or less since it came out, 200 was the wrong price point for a modular.

You can get the TH for a decent price from time to time on Amazon, I got one for $165 last week.

No video yet. I want to see what the inside looks like.
