[REVIEW] 630 Brick Separator x2

Post by toystest » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:45 pm

Indexed

Have you ever had this happen, You're taking apart your latest build and after five minutes of speedy destruction all you have left is a bunch of small plates stuck together and a base plate filled with flat tiles. Now you get to spend another 10 minutes trying to pry all this apart.
Image

Well Lego has must have thought about this too, they sell an item for 2.49 called 'Brick Separator. I recently bought 2 of these and I can not recommend them enough. In my opinion they should start putting one of these in every set!

Here are some example of how the separator can be used:

And after all those pieces are taken apart the only thing that remains is the base board with the flat tiles, time to break some nails and damage some Lego bricks! Here is how the separator can help with that:

After:

PROS:
*No more damaged bricks
*Increased speed when breaking down Lego constructions.
*No more painfully broken finger Nails
*No more teethmarks on bricks

CONS:
*You really need two, and Lego sells them only in single packages.
*A small 1x2 plate and a 1x2 flat tile still are nearly impossible to take apart

You should, it's the best 5$ I've spent in a while.

They are money extremely well spent. I keep mine on top of my LEGO cabinet, that's how much I use it. However, if you have kids who are into LEGO....get them each one or you'll never be able to find yours.
Disclosure of location should be required when listing your finds!

$5?!??! they are making a killing. I was ready to buy one after reading the review and now I might just buy only one for my niece. I hate knowing how much it cost to produce things.

It's $5 for two of them. They're $2.49 a piece, as stated in the review.

Sorry about any confusion, they are 2.49 a piece, but I would recommend buying 2(4.98$ or 5$ rounded) as just a single one will not really help getting two small plates off of each other.

I just bought two. They're great. My son took one of them. With one separator left I still could remove two 1x2 plates stuck together if I stick them on top of a 2x4 brick or something similar first. But it seemed easier to do when I had two separators.

I didn't realize they worked on tiles as well! They really are essential.

Now I finally see how this separator works. I definitely will get a pair of this while my next shopping at S@H. ;)

Because threads tend to do that after a year.

Many years ago, when I was a little boy, these used to be Grey in colour.

It's like the best LEGO pc. ever. After I got one, I never had to use my teeth to pull apart the bricks anymore.. :D.

Wow this looks like an invaluable tool for any serious LEGO fan. No more trying to chew the pieces off.

I used my teeth, too, when I was a kid.

The inclusion of one of these in the MBA Kit 1 box is a great additional value to that set - now all I need to do is buy one separately and I'll have two! I have to say, I felt it was a bit of a novelty item at first, but since using the one I got with MBA.1 I have to say it's a great little tool for any serious builder.

I use mine, that I got with the MBA, all the time too.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!
