LEGO gets Marvels Comics Superheroes License

Post by Toys N Bricks » Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:14 am

FBTB.net is reporting that LEGO has further extended their DC Comics License with Warners Brothers. According to StitchKingdom LEGO Super Heroes Marvel is scheduled to launch in May 2012. This means that in addition to all the DC Comics characters like LEGO Batman and LEGO Superman, we will also get LEGO sets with X-Men, Spider Man, Doctor Octopus, Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Widow.

We’ve seen LEGO Spider Man sets before, but Captain America, The Hulk and Iron Man will be the first characters ever made into LEGO form! Many of these LEGO sets will be supported by the upcoming Marvel The Avengers Movie that is scheduled to be released May 4, 2012.

Thanks to staff reporter ncbarrett and forum member gabriellee11 for the news.

Lego gets DC Comics license!!!

Post by Captain Lantern » Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:13 am

....the sound you hear is my brain oozing out my ears.......

I can't even believe this! Not since Mego can I remember the "universes" crossing so completely! I've been wanting to trim down my theme collecting and this just blew the doors off that!

It's going to be a heck of a day when Indy, Jack Sparrow, Superman, and Captain America team up against Voldemort and Lotso! Even though I have to admit to doubting the wisdom of Lego licensing, it's just a goldmine!

Not the right forum, but I just had a mental image of Lego SuperHeroes on my Wii with Marvel AND DC characters.......

Oh man, it's going to be a long time till Jan.......

from StitchKingdom.com
"The LEGO SUPER HEROES Marvel collection will spotlight three Marvel franchises – Marvel’s The Avengers movie, and X-Men and Spider-Man classic characters. The LEGO Marvel’s The Avengers movie line brings such ever popular Marvel characters as Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Widow to LEGO minifigure form. The LEGO X-Men collection includes minifigure comic versions of Wolverine, Magneto, Nick Fury and Deadpool, while the LEGO Spider-Man sets offer minifigure comic versions of Spider-Man, and Doctor Octopus. The first buildable characters in the LEGO SUPER HEROES collection are highlighted by Captain America, The Hulk and Iron Man. Select figures will be unveiled in the LEGO booth (#2829) during Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center July 21-24."

Sounds like Marvel wont happen til Summer, since it is stated to coincide with Avengers movie.

DC will probably show up in December at TRU

Whoa. Maybe I shouldn't even mention this to my son. I think he'll end up on the ceiling.

The front page article need to be revised. Marvel has nothing to do with DC Comics or Warner Brothers. Marvel is a Disney brand and an extension of the Disney license

:o Can't believe it. Never imagine two huge lines of superhero theme presenting by lego in same year. This is a very smart way to attract more potential AFOL out from dark age.

I wish the upcoming sets and minifigures would be well designed with good quality.

If only it were that easy - first I have to catch him! Such a hyperactive kid. Well, he has a January birthday. Maybe, if we're lucky, some of the DC sets will be available by then.

Clearly, it's time to start a budget for superhero Lego.

So Ironman which was a Megabloks theme has transferred to Lego much like PoTC did. I wonder with this trend if Megabloks would be able to attract any other popular Properties.

Pondering aside I'd very much like a ironsuit to go with the rest of my Lego armored legions.
