The shuttle looks small but seeing its 2503 pieces, i may have to change that thought. $250 is average for 2503 pieces. At least we get ten cents per piece.

I have the first At-At and have been waiting for this one. I dont buy many Star Wars sets anymore, but I plan on buying all 3 of these.

Wow. I did not expect the Imperial Shuttle to be that expensive. I expected it to cost about what Slave 1 does.

Its been known for quite some time that it was going to be $250. I don't remember exactly how, but it was discovered that it was going to be $250 months ago around the same time that these pictures came out:

Sorry, my bad. I got this confused with the Emperor's Shuttle that's coming out that comes with the burned Anakin/Vader. That's the cost of Slave I I think.

I believe it's less by about $20 (depending on where you live). The newest incarnation of the Slave 1 is $80(US) and Palpatine's Shuttle is $60(US) I pretty sure.

Excellent. Thanks for the clarification. While I probably will pick up Cad Bane's speeder and Slave 1 first, this one's next on my list. Still looking at August release date for these?

Whoh $80? Where do you have this figure from?

I'm not quite sure the origin of the figure, but I've heard that Slave 1 is going to be $80, too.

It's speculative, but based on the price people paid in Euros when amazon.fr had them available WAY early.

Aaaah holy crap. I can only hope this will be knocked down lower in the US...I was really hoping it would be a bit lower than that. I can't really justify buying something so expensive with just 4 minifigs, even if they are all awesome.

I still don't understand why this one's so much bigger than the Palpatine Shuttle that will be out this year.

Because most standard retail sets aren't strictly 'to scale' with the minifigures that represent the passengers. Generally speaking, they're much smaller than they actually should be, in order to keep the cost down.

This being a 10xxx set number means it's a LEGO exclusive meant for the hard core collector in the same vein as the UCS series or the Death Star playset. Therefore, they've actually built it more to the 'realistic' scale and thus the size difference in relation to the Palpatine Shuttle.

Lego is making many big sets with minifigures now. This way, they can be targeted at kids as well as adults even though they're meant for adults. Kids see the republic dropship and death star will more likely get it even if its expensive with the figures compared to the other UCS sets without minifigures.
