I'm surprised that this theme has no blood or gore.

Actually, I do own the Batman and Catwoman w/ motorcycle set. Other than that and the Monster Fighters, the only Lego things I have bought in probably over 10 years is an Admiral Ackbar keychain and the minifigure Hazmat guy.

Where do you guys typically pick up the little polybagged sets? I like the ghost w/ the grandfather clock. Doesn't seem to be out yet, but I can't even recall seeing those little sets at any retailers. I know one of the guys over at OAFE.net always goes nuts over the polybags, but I don't usually pay attention to where he buys them.

TRU and Target carry polybags.

Target typically near the cash registers.
TRU near the Lego aisles.

You just have to keep a tab on it and keep checking if you want something specific (like the ghost).
The news update on this site is very good in such an alert.

Just picked up the Vampyre Hearse, Mad Scientist's Lab, and the Ghost Train last night!

The Vampyre Hearse is a really nice set. I love the size of the hearse and the details on the vehicle (side lanterns, curtains hanging down over the windows, cool engine). The motorcycle that comes with it is a nice small piece as well.

The Mad Scientists Lab is also really fun because of the unique Mad Scientist and Monster figures. The Monster Fighters vehicle that comes with the set is possibly my favorite. Cool mix of an antique car with some crazy "tech" like a satelite dish, adjustible missile launcher, and pop out gunner's seat. The lab itself is fun, but I actually like the car best of all.

The Ghost Train is a little dissappointing. Love the ghosts, love the Monster Fighters' airplane, and love the locomotive, but the cars are a little bland.

So, any idea what is the price for 30200 Zombie and 30201 Ghost? Will these be available in Canada?

That Zombie car is both ridiculous and awesome at the same time. I'll definitely try to get a bunch of those.

Huh. Not as big of a fan of that zombie car as I am of the other stuff in this line. Might still pick it up. I wish some of these sets came with more unique figures, though. I'm starting to amass a small army of the Monster Fighter with the robotic leg.

Let me know if you want to unload one or two of him.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

The entire Monster Fighters line is now available at Target.com

(This line will not be sold in brick-mortar stores, only online like LOTR sets)

Ya, free shipping is another example, though it doesn't seem to be as bad. Usually they will do 25 or 75 bucks and you get free shipping if they aren't doing $50, which is good because most Lego sets seem to be $29.99 or $79.99 which easily hits the mark.

I will say though, the Lego VIP kinda sucks because of this. They will only give you a point if it's a dollar exactly, so all those 99 cents are being wasted. Not like it's a huge deal, but you would think they would just give you the point when it's 99 cents, considering that's 1 cent away from a dollar and 99 away from the nothing they give

There is no reason to expect this line to have more than one wave.
Generally LEGO release a one wave line in summer, (i.e Alien Conquest)
It really depends how well the line does. It it does well enough I am sure Lego will do more waves regardless of what their original plans were.

Hmmm... no zombie set on Target.com. Wonder if it will be a Lego.com exclusive rather than a Target one then?

And the zombie polybag is nice, but I wish we'd get more different zombies. We'll have 3 Renfields now after the Hearse and Zombie sets.

Buttmunch wrote:The LotR sets do seem to be on the high side anyway. Lego must have had a heck of a licensing fee on them.
I keep seeing people say this, but I don't really see it. Here is the price per piece for all the LotR sets, and the Monster Fighters ones:

Gandalf Arrives - 0.16, 2 minifigs + horse
Shelob Attacks - 0.09, 3 minifigs
Uruk-Hai Army - 0.12, 6 minifigs + horse
The Orc Forge - 0.11, 4 minifigs
Attack on Weathertop - 0.14, 5 minifigs + 2 horses
The Mines of Moria - 0.10, 6 minifigs + troll/2 skeletons
The Battle of Helm's Deep - 0.10, 8 minifigs, 1 horse
Avg: 0.12 (0.11 if you exclude Gandalf Arrives)

The Swamp Creature - 0.10, 2 minifigs
The Mummy - 0.13, 2 minifigs + 1 horse
The Werewolf - 0.08, 2 minifigs
The Vampyre Hearse - 0.11, 3 minifgs + bike
The Crazy Scientist & His Monster - 0.12, 4 minifigs
The Ghost Train - 0.11, 5 minifigs
Vampyre Castle - 0.11, 6 minifigs
Avg: 0.11

As you can see, they are almost identical. If you don't include Gandalf Arrives, which for whatever reason has a terrible PPP, then they actually are dead even. That's pretty good for a license theme vs a non-license theme imo. Gandalf Arrives and Attack on Weathertop seem to be the only really overpriced sets in the LotR theme. Interesting enough too, the 20 dollar sets are both the best deal by far for both themes.

Keep in mind the LotR sets seem to have a higher minifigure count on average. For example Ghost Train and Mines of Moria are both 80 bucks, yet MoM has 6 minifigs compared to the 5 in the train, plus you also get 2 skeletons and the massive Cave Troll in MoM. Same with Vampyre Hearse vs Uruk-Hai Army, the Uruk-hai set has almost double the figures of the Hearse set, while being 5 bucks cheaper.

oh my GOD!
Did you see this? They gave the vampire the eponymous "I'm-an-insane-castle-recluse-who-kidnaps-village-maidens-on-the-side" pipe organ??! That is... wow. This set is mine.

That is easily rectified.

I wonder why the Zombie set is delayed? Very excited for it- it looks great!

By the way, I remember reading in a BrickJournal article about how, last year, Alien Conquest tested so well that TLG rushed it out instead of another theme that was ready for release. Was it Monster Fighters?
