The official press release for the upcoming LEGO Sydney Opera House has just been released this morning. Retail price for this new 2012 LEGO Architecture set $39.99 or €39.99. Available March 1st at LEGO Brand Stores, LEGO Shop at Home and LEGOLand.
BILLUND, Denmark – The Sydney Opera House™, a masterpiece of late-modernist architecture that is admired internationally and treasured by the people of Australia, has had its famous sculpted curves recreated by LEGO® Architecture.
Sydney Opera House was created by Jørn Utzon, a young Danish architect who understood the potential provided by the site against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. The massive concrete sculptural shells that form the Sydney Opera House’s roof appear like billowing sails filled by the sea winds. Utzon envisaged it as a Gothic cathedral that people would never tire of and ‘never be finished with’.
The LEGO version of the Sydney Opera House seeks to capture the essence of this grand building in a small scale. The LEGO Architecture range, which now features 13 models, uses the iconic LEGO brick to interpret the designs of iconic architecture around the world. The New York Toy Fair 2012 has begun and pictures are already surfacing! The LEGO Store is holding an Ultimate Spinjitzu Tournament beginning on February 6th at 5PM. Put your skills to the test and be the first to knock your opponent’s weapons out of his hands. The winning ninjas from each round will battle until there is one winner per day at each store. The daily winners will receive a LEGO Ninjago Battle Arena to take home. They will be invited to come back and compete in the Utimate Spinjitzu Finals on Friday, February 17. The grand prize winner will receive a Destiny’s Bounty set and will be named Master of Spinjitzu!

There will be an event at TRU on Saturday, February 4th from 12-2 PM to launch the new Friends line. Children will be able to build a cute lemonade stand (FREE). The LEGO Group will donate $1 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for each lemonade stand built. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation raises money to to support the fight against childhood cancers.

The London Toy Fair has started today and there’s lots of LEGO Summer 2012 sets being revealed. Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed for the sets but you can read different descriptions of them from many other sites including Brickset, FBTB, Blogmatic and Bricks and Books.
