A new LEGOLand Discovery Center will be opening at Texas Grapevine Mills in Spring 2011! You can read more about it here. LEGOLand Discovery Centers are very similar to LEGOLand Theme Parks. The major differences are that they are indoors and smaller in sizes. There are currently four LEGOLand Discovery Centers in the world including Chicago, Berlin, Duisburg, and Manchester. A new LEGO Store is opening in Elmhurst, New York at Queens Center! The grand opening celebration runs from July 9-11. During the celebration, you can help master model builders build a 8-ft tall R2-D2 from LEGO pieces.

According to Movieweb.com, there is a feature film currently being produced which is to feature…

“In a story from Variety, Warner Bros. has hired Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) to write and direct their Lego movie… The film is going to be a mix of live action and animation. This project has been in development for over a year. The producers have made many trips to Denmark to work with Lego’s executives on the concept.”

LEGO is hosting a LEGO Design Challenge Contest that starts today and will run until August 8. This contest is only available in the United States. All you have to do is design a creation with 100 pieces and write a brief description on it. One winner from each age group will receive a grand prize consisting of the 5 prizes listed below.
